That being said, I'm glad I'll be in the stands for this one!
LOL! I really don't mind Pam Ward like I used to...she does better than some of the clods out there.

Rece Davis...I like his style quite a bit. I can tolerate Mark May but for the love of Doyt Perry, someone please give Lou a couple rolls of paper towels to clean up all his spit. LOL. I don't really mind Lou...

This is a better team than I expected.

I don't get all the Pam Ward haters. What exactly does she do that is so bad? I just don't see any specifics listed about why she is a bad announcer. I'll take her and Ray Bentley over the three stooges anyday. Davis, May and Holtz call every MAC game the same way...."yeah these teams are good, but compared to (insert BCS Conference Here).....

They act like it's an act of charity for ESPN to be doing a game involving Bowling Green. Lou is a little more mild being a Kent guy, but May is awful. I think I'll be tuning in Todd Walker and muting the TV.

For me, Ward's delivery is like nails on a chalkboard. Also, she doesn't appear to have a good grasp of the game.

I agree about Bentley. He is atrocious.

Just for the record, I don't dislike Pam Ward, I just prefer to hear football from a male's voice. Women broadcasting basketball or baseball don't bother me either. When it comes to football I just think a male voice makes sense to my brain, however small it is. And there are plenty of male broadcasters worse than Pam.

I agree with your point about Ward. She has a tendancy to overstate the obvious and never say anything interesting about the game. It's as though she has seen neither team play before except the game that is happening. It makes things really weird, especially this year in which you almost expect the unexpected or the upset. She's way too stiff with her delivery and provides no real valuable information other than crap we already know.
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

The first couple times I heard a game called by her, it was difficult because I didn't quite realize it was a woman calling the game.

When you think that that voice you hear just might be a man, then it's not a pleasant voice to hear at all.

Once I saw part of a game where they showed Pam and her booth partner (at the time I believe it was Chris Speilman), I was like: Oh. it became fine after that.

I wonder if what I've described may be the source of the issue.

I think she gets a bum rap from a lot of people. She actually does a decent job. I hope there are a few more women in the booth like her at some point.

Also, as far as the knock on her that she doesn't offer a lot of football insight: Typically, the play-by-play person is the straight man, and the color guy is there to rattle off insight.

Finally, I think the crew we will get -- Davis, May and Holtz -- will be good. I genuinely think Holtz is entertaining, and it's worth looking the other way when his body sometimes acts its age.

As long as people realize that our game is going to be used as a recap/preview game for the bowls before and the BCS NC game you should be fine.

...of those crews listed earlier

#1- Mike Patrick & Todd Blackledge
#2- Dan Fouts & Tim Brant
#3- Brent Musberger & Kirk Herbstreit
#4- Nessler, Griese, & Maguire
#5- Franklin & Cunningham

#6- I dont even think there is a #6 for me because there is such a big drop off after that... (Pam Ward is somewhere in the middle of this mix for me)

#Last- Those idiots who did BG-Minnesota

If you're going to spend 3+ hours yelling at me through my TV, at least try to be right on more than half your calls. MP got real annoying real quick today. Blackledge was pretty good, though I attribute that to his upbringing and his father's college education.

Looks like there has been a change to the announcing crew. According to the Athletic Dept. press release it will be Bob Wischusen, Andre Ware and Joe Schad.

"The original ESPN television crew for the GMAC Bowl with Tulsa and Bowling Green was the team ESPN studio hosts for College Football -- Rece Davis, Lou Holtz and Mark May . . . that crew was taken off of the game last Thursday and replaced by play-play play Bob Wischusen, analyst Andre Ware and sideline commentator Joe Schad . . . Ware was the analyst for Tulsa's last game in the C-USA Championship."

On the whole, Ware does a good job. Except for the love fest to get the CMU coach to WVU.

Without a doubt, the current worst announcing team in sports is the NFL networks Bryant Gumble and Cris Collinsworth. Words alone cannot describe their ineptitude.

Saturday night was my first chance to see a game on the NFL Network. Bryant Gumbel is HORRENDOUS. He is the anti-Gus Johnson when it comes to showing some enthusiasm. And we were about five minutes into the game and he had already twice said the defensive player "stoned" the ball carrier.

Bryant Gumbel seems totally out of place as a play-by-play man, almost the complete opposite of his very professional and smooth brother Greg.

My favorite is Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson on CBS. Todd Blackledge avoids stating the obvious and points out good X's and O's tidbits. Brent Musberger's set-ups are legendary and always set the right mood for a big game. "You are looking LIVE..."
