Mediocrity should not be rewarded, but it will be as they continue to add bowl games. Soon they'll get rid of the idea of "bowl eligibility" altogether so they can add some more games.
I guess this is part of the reason that I tend to discount Brandon's success when people base it on the fact he has taken us to three bowl games. Given the current state and number of bowls, it is practically to the point where you should be fired if you DON'T go to a bowl.
During the time BG went to their first two bowl game wins under Brandon, the MAC had only two tie ins.
But because the entire system was so watered down, we were playing the 7th place Big Ten team and a team from another mid-major conference. Should it be such a commendable event that we won those two games?
Your response really does show how you feel about Brandon.
My point was more about the lack of tie ins for the MAC. Though he didn't win the MAC, those teams were the second best in the conference. Depending on the year, 10-11 other teams in the MAC didn't go to a game.
No matter who you play, if you can win a bowl game it is commendable.
Northwestern is still a Big Ten team and Memphis had one of the top backs and eventual first round pick.

no it is not. the whole bowl season ( A celebration of mediocrity ) is great....all these teams deserve to play in a bowl....lol
Its utterly disgusting is what it has become, boorish.
