I was informed that Chris Young and Jarrett Buckosh left the program (not sure why or what happened, I was just told they are gone). I’m not sure what’s going on with Mark Wooldrige. He is on the roster on the website, but so are Young and Buckosh and none of those three are in the media guide. If Wooldridge is not with us any longer as well, that is another blow as he was another promising prospect down the road. Wooldridge and Nate Brown were two of our top recruits (and arguably BG’s best two frosh recruits) from the 2007 class and we already know the story on Brown. I hope Wooldridge is not gone as well.

I’m starting to get concerned about the number of players who were expected back this season who are now not returning or are gone from the program for various reasons. Here’s what I have so far:

QB Nate Brown
QB Anthony Glaud
WR Zach Charles
OL Jarett Buckosh
DL Jacob Hardwick
DL Orlando Barrow
DL Darren Branch
LB Glen Stanley
LB Jerrson Davis
LB Chris Young
DB Tarell Lewis
DB Mark Wooldrige

Three of those guys could have been potential starters this season (Hardwick, Barrow and Stanley) or would have seen significant playing time and Lewis and Glaud would likely have seen a good bit of action as well. As mentioned above, Brown and Wooldridge came in with a lot of potential. I sure as hell hope this list quits growing and that the injury bug stays the hell away from our team this season. If this list holds true, we’re down 12 guys who "could" have been back this season without putting on pads yet.
GO BG!!!

1) The SID staff derserve kudos for putting together an extremely impressive document. The stats on the inside cover about BG since Brandon took over (best overall record, second best league record, most bowl appearences) are worth repeating.

2) Not that it necessarily applies in every one of these cases, but there's something to be said for addition by subtraction. Quite frankly, I'm extremely excited about the 97 players and 18 returning starters that have been quietly working hard, fulfilling their obligations and preparing to win a championship. My confidence and pride in them far exceedes any disappointment over losing the services of the inevitable handful of players who fall off the map every year.

(BGSU33: my opinion is nothing personal against you lest you or anyone else get the wrong impression again)

If I remember correctly, Jarret is graduating at the end of the summer. I believe that is what he told me one night when he was working at Kami's. I know it had something to do with graduation.
