Moore is a fine player and, by all accounts, a good person. With the facilities we have- Sebo Ctr/FieldTurf/Doyt updates/Perry Fiedhse- we are now seriously competing at the top of the MAC for instate players. Our message is reasonating more clearly with these players. When you add in our schedule, our location to see the kid play, our academic strength in programs many student athletes want and you have a good combination.

While it is great to beat out some real big teams for a player every now and then- and we do- to win in the MAC you must get players who are coveted by Miami, Ohio, Toledo etc. You must beat these teams in recruiting a fair amount of the time to beat them on the field.

And, in my view, in the last couple of classes including this upcoming one we are doing just that.

Doesn't mean we won't get some players elsewhere- Marquis Quiles in this year's class from north Atlanta will be a good one; DeMark Jenkins isn't from the south, but he is far from Ohio and will be a good one too. But you have to recruit Ohio to win.

ummmm what southern school got a skill position player besides tennessee???? because alabama got a running back that is most likely going to play linebacker. other then those two its all big ten and mac schools and one west virginia kid.

Ummmm, I wrote "offering and signing". Regardless, a linebacker isn't a "cornfed lineman" and the large majority of D1A Ohio recruits are not "cornfed linemen". Except for California, Florida, and Texas, which produce more, the only other state that consistently produces a number of players (at all positions) comparable to Ohio is Georgia.

theres 9 d-1 schools in ohio, of course more kids from ohio are going to play in college becasue they are lucky enough to grow up in that region. all im sayin is high school football in ohio is takin wayyyyy to seriously and is overrated. anytime someone aplauds the efforts of coaches to "redshirt" an 8th grader so he stays in the 8th grade 2 years so he'll be bigger when he is in 9th grade, seriously has a problem.

You're delusional if you think Ohio D1A schools are taking lesser talent just because it's from the home state while more talented players are not getting offers. These coaches are played to win, PERIOD. They do everything in their power to put the best players on the field. They don't care if they come from Ohio, Florida, or Uganda.

The fact is that Ohio produces a good deal of football talent. It has nothing to do with how many colleges their are in the state. To take it a step further Ohio ranks 5th in total player in the NFL as well. Or are you going to tell me that Ohio players benefit from having 2 teams in state?

Sorry, you may not like Ohio HS football, but the fact is the state produces a ton of talent, and it should be the focus of our recruiting efforts to get the MAC level kids to come to BG.

At least as HS football is concerned. I've never heard any knowledgeable football fan say Ohio only produces lineman and the reason more kids is because there more schools....

Oh okay, well for the record...massillon is the only school i've ever heard of high school "redshirting" going on in ohio, but if you look at texas that has been an issue for decades. I like that we are getting players from Ohio. When I look at players like Javon Ringer and Nate Davis I definitely see more than linemen coming out of the state. I definitely respect the quickness of the players that come out of Florida, though.
