See Falconfreak, I'm VERY conflicted right now. The team hasn't done jack crap on our home field this year, and I literally cried after we lost to EMU two weeks ago. We'd had dissapointments before, and I was in Mobile for our 63-7 shallacking by Tulsa, but the EMU game was worse than that. 10/4/08 was the day I officially became a Brandon basher, it was a day of lost faith in the program. When we lost on 10/18 to Miami, I pretty much shrugged my shoulders. I'm turning into Hammb and J4H, where I'm not surprised when we lose.Falconfreak90 wrote:Why not be at the Doyt anyway despite what happens? I mean, you are a Falcon fan, right? But I can't be like them, because my support for the team is either all or nothing. It's either I'm emotionally invested in the outcomes of games, or I just don't care at all. There's no middle ground. I think I went from one side to the other on 10/4.
However, I'm finding that being mad and saying I'm not going to go to the game and actually sitting at home on Saturday with a game going on is another thing entirely. Plus, I DON'T want my last memory of Falcon Football during my time at BGSU to be losing to Miami. So, I might turn out after all. We'll just have to see.

Don't lump me in with the rest of you bandwagonny martians. Just because I think Brandon is a bad head coach and most of the staff follows suit, and that the program will keep sputtering until he's replaced, doesn't mean I don't follow and support this program 365 days a year. If I still lived within an hour of BG, I'd be at the Doyt every single week even if we hadn't won a game in ten years. Makes me sick that you have the privilege of being a stone's throw away from a football, basketball, hockey, or volleyball (not soccer of course, because that program should be cut, right?) game pretty much every night of the week, and you are whining about how you don't want to show up and "get your heart broken". Roll Along!
Does this season suck @$$? You bet'cha, is it going to get any better? probably not. Should we give up on the team? HELL NO!! Of all the times to give up on the team, this is not one of those times. If anything, the team needs us now more than anything. As what others have said, it appears as though the coaching staff has given up on this team, the last thing that it needs are the fans giving up on it. Those of you who have stuck around and watched this team for years know that things like this happen. There have been some terrible years with this football team, though you have stuck it out with them (otherwise you guys probably wouldn't still be here). These guys are human therefore when they have a home game where they know that their coach has (apparently) given up on them, it just hurts them even more when they see the empty stands. Besides, not going to games won't solve anything, not unless you can get everyone to not show up to any games at all, and I don't see that happening. If you want something to get fixed, email the AD, email the university president and let them know that you aren't happy with the way the current coach is taking things (or whatever you think is the problem, whether it be the band or something else). The last thing you should do however is give up on this team.

As much as it is off topic to this thread I just want to jump in and defend myself as well. Just because I don't like Brandon as a head coach, doesn't mean I don't still support this team/program/university 100%! Yeah, I no longer expect big things from this team, and I don't let the games piss me off anymore, it's just not worth it. But you damn well better believe I'll be thrilled to death when we do win a home game this year. And you can also guarantee that I'll be in the stands when we win a home game this year.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Don't lump me in with the rest of you bandwagonny martians. I have missed exactly 1 home game since '00, and that was a weekday game that my work had me out of town (Miami mud bowl). I don't anticipate missing any home games in the near future either. Yeah, the games aren't as much fun as they used to be. And no I don't let myself get pissed off at every loss anymore, but I still support this team as much as anyone.
I'll be there Saturday, and hopefully we'll have a good turnout despite the way this season has unfolded.
