The players get tons of support in all the things that count. Classes, grants-in-aid, helmets, etc.
They don't play the games for the people in the stands, so how many are there should not matter. A big crowd is a nice thing, never to be dissuaded, but not why they should strap up the orbs and play well.
The folks in the stands are there to watch a game they enjoy, or would if the results on the field hadn't stunk most of this year. If they don't want to pay to see a team playing lousy football, so be it. It isn't personal. It is business and pleasure.
I get the point of saying "support the team no matter what" but frankly it is beyond the point. If folks feel that strongly about it, fine, go, see, cheer, whatever. But for most folks, following the team is a pass time. It is entertainment. I see nothing wrong with skipping games if you simply aren't interested in seeing what has become a typically poor product. Nor do I see a point in ripping those who don't want to go.
Likewise, if folks want to decry the piss-poor coaching as they see it, so be it.
Live and let live. And in a public forum, debate and comment.
