Coach Brandon has been let go
Well I did personally deliever my $25,000 check to Greg Christopher on Tuesday when I was in town for a funeral. Gave it 2 months early )usually give my donation end of January) and included a note, 'Do what you feel is right for BGSU Athletics.'
I doubt my little money did anything but if others did the same then anything is possible. I wish GB the best but the change is needed! Thank You Greg Christopher for not waiting! Not the question begins, Who do we go after? Sylvester Croom is now available. I wouldn't mind going after a coach at Grand Valley State or a Mount Union?

Re: new coaches 2009?
Usually when the Head Coach goes so do the assistants. This may or may not be the case here. The assistants were not told, yet, if this is the case.IMAFALCON wrote:rumor is all coaches were "let go"
This is a pretty stressful time for all involved. Coaches and there families are worried about the future.

Brandon Era Comes to a Close at BGSU
Gregg Brandon finishes his career at BGSU with a 44-30 record.
Nov. 29, 2008
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Gregg Brandon, who just completed his sixth season as Bowling Green's head football coach, will not return to the Perry Stadium sidelines, BGSU's Director of Athletics Greg Christopher announced this afternoon (Nov. 29).
Brandon's Falcons ended the 2008 campaign with a 6-6 mark overall and 4-4 in Mid American Conference play. In his six years as head coach, Brandon finishes with a 44-30 overall record and 31-17 in the MAC. The Falcons completed their 2008 season with a 38-10 win at Toledo on Nov. 28.
"This was a difficult decision, but ultimately I believe it's time for BGSU football to make a coaching change," said Christopher. "Gregg's time at Bowling Green has been marked by a number of accomplishments. I want to thank him for his dedication and commitment to Falcon football."
Brandon, the 16th football coach in BGSU history, came to Bowling Green as assistant head coach and offensive coordinator in 2001. He took over as head coach of the Falcons on Dec. 19, 2002. Team highlights during his tenure include three bowl games - the 2003 Motor City Bowl, and the 2004 and 2008 GMAC Bowls. BGSU also won the 2003 MAC West Championship and tied for first in the East in 2005 and 2007 under Brandon.
Christopher will begin the search for a new head coach immediately.
"Finding the right person to lead the young men of our football team is our top priority," said Christopher. "There isn't a set timeline and we will begin the extensive research and background process immediately."

Awesome news despite his winning percentage record with us. Obviously, the cries from fans for so many years on his in-ability to take us to the next level was also felt by those which make the true decisions.
It's been a tumultuous ride but something needed to be done. In my opinion, this decision was that of championship organizations despite his winning record with BG. This could be a sign of good things to come, but expect a rough road ahead before we see a winning team anytime soon. This purge could bring a TRUE BCS BUSTER SOON THOUGH! My fingers are crossed.

A news conference scheduled for 7 p.m. at Anderson Arena has been scheduled for the University to announce Gregg Brandon will be let go as head coach at Bowling Green.
Brandon served as BG's head coach starting in 2003, and had been the offensive coordinator for Urban Meyer for two years prior to that.
BG, the preseason MAC East favorite, suffered through a 6-6 season, including 4-4 in the MAC.
There are no rumors so far regarding possible replacements.
As always, BGNewsSports.com will have more on this story unfolds. Audio of the press conference will be up soon after its conclusion.
Too bad this news conference won't be broascasted live. [/i]

Wow, I am truly shocked.
I never thought we'd actually fire him. Thought for sure we'd be stuck with this guy for 2 more years. One thing I hope this doesn't do is create a mass exodus of our more talented players. I hope we can bring in bright up and coming coach with an exciting different kind of spread O. Something along the lines of Boise or Utah offense would be frankly awesome IMO.
