BINGO!
It may sound crass, but I would actually prefer if all of our recruits reneged on their verbals and we allowed the incoming head coach to spend his scholarships on players that fit his mold.
Yeah, we would have a hard time filling a class, but I'd rather have an incomplete class of players that the new coach can use than a full class of guys that don't fit what he's looking for in a player. Besides we're short on schollies anyways (thanks guys!) which makes everyone we do sign that much more important that they fit what we're trying to do.

Ok Rich Rod, a good coach can make his system fit the players he has. Besides you have four years worth of kids that are already part of Brandon's system, should we release all of those kids from their schollies. Our best bet for a smooth transition is to find a coach with a similar offensive scheme, and hope they are just a better leader.

If we had the time, that would be the smart thing to do. But with signing day less than seven weeks away you can't do that. The coaching decision probably won't be made for at least another month. That leaves no time for him to go out and find 21 qualified athletes that fit his style of play.
I think you have to find a way to hold on to as many of those verbals you currently have. Depending on who we get as coach, maybe he'll have a couple of guys that he's been recruiting at his current school that will follow him to BG. Not saying they'll switch their committment, but maybe he found a guy that his current shcool couldn't offer but the kid would jump at the chance to follow this coach to BG? Its happened before.
I have no problem with a position coach telling a BG recruit to explore all his options. I wish more coaches were that honest and had the kids best interests in mind.

Agreed. Sure the comments aren't the most positive, but would you rather lie to a kid, tell him "don't worry about it, stay here" or tell him to explore his options. I'd rather the coaches be straight forward with the recruits. Take visits, check it out. If you still like BG the most, then hope on board.
I think any parent/player would appreciate that sort of honesty then the old used car salesmen "no no, everythings okay, dont bother looking elsewhere".

I agree with this. Honesty is the most important thing.
Yes, Coach Brandon was just fired. But Bowling Green is about more than just a coach. It's the family, the team, the history, the future. We believe you picked Bowling Green for all those reasons and more, not just because of who the coach is. We understand that this decision is going to lead to many other coaches getting in contact with you to try to get you to change your mind about coming to Bowling Green. We understand that. Listen to them, make other visits if you think you need to. But your scholarship offer from Bowling Green stands no matter who the coach is and we still hope to see you playing for the Falcons next season."
Maybe something like that was said, and the recruit just gave a shorter version that sounds like the message was checking out other schools is probably a good idea.

I'm pretty sure Greg Chrisopher is gonna hire one of those 'buy things ' dad's"
Got an email from Scout.com...re: that Patrick Nicely, QB from Will. So. HS is going to take a visit to "another MAC school". If I recall correctly, OU was his other offer at the time he committed to BG. Unfortunately, since I don't "belong" to the Scout network, I only get the lead sentences in these cases, but I think we're starting to see the after effects of the coaching change.

His other offer, and his upcoming visit, are at Akron.

AK current QB is from the same area as Nicely (Mentor and Willoughby are next to one another). So clearly they've recruited that area before and know what they're looking for in a QB. Nicely actually fits the same mold as Jacquamain (spelling).
Jacquamin is 6'2 225 with a strong arm, nicely a bit taller at 6'4/5 at 207.

Latest printout from Scout.com has Nicely listed as a : "SOFT VERBAL"...so he's obviously already talked to...Akron? OU? Somebody.

Scout lists Nicely as being "Soft Verbal" to BG with Akron his other school in consideration. Visited on 12/5. I'd imagine if he were blown away he'd have verbaled by now. Signing day is a month or so away, so we'll see then i guess...
