Cedar Point is, hands down, the best amusement park in the country...you'll love it. I agree with hammb...the Toledo Zoo is a great zoo. It's the only worthwhile thing in that city.

Myles, Pollyeye's...can't go wrong with either. Just stay away from Frickers...yuk.

The French Quarter Holiday Inn Flipper mentioned isn't really near the Levis Commons outdoor shopping center. But there is a brand new Hilton Garden Inn there. Levis Commons is about a 15 min drive from Doyt Perry Stadium.

The Fallen Timbers outdoor shopping center is a little further up the road between Maumee and Waterville. It's probably about a 25 to 30 drive. There is a brand new hotel there too, but I can't remember what it is.

And it is the Holiday Inn in Maumee that added the indoor waterpark. But I was thinking there was another one right there too. At any rate, that hotel is right off the Ohio Turnpike in Maumee and about 30 mins away.

Toledo Zoo is an absolutely must do with your kids. When my kids were younger, we would go to a different zoo every summer. Been to Detroit, Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Louisville, Indy, Ft. Wayne and even the world famous San Diego Zoo. I would take a trip back to the Toledo Zoo over any of those.

Definitely don't stay at the Knights Inn in BG. There's a reason it's the cheapest...

If you like rock music, check out Howard's Club H. It usually has some good local music. Again, it's a bar so you obviously wouldn't be able to take the kids.

I would also suggest a trip to Levis Commons in Perrysburg. You can spend a whole day there.

I would also like to endorse Cedar Point, as many have so far. I have been to many other amusement parks, including Six Flags in Illinois, and it puts them all to shame. Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster are the craziest things I have ever seen, though I haven't been on Dragster because it is too intense for me

If you are staying that long, you may want to take a day-trip to Dearborn, Michigan and see the Henry Ford Museum and/or Greenfield Village.

The Ford has a pretty eclectic world class collection of transportation, while Greenfield Village is a recreation of a late nineteenth/early twentieth century town.

We spent a couple of days there last spring and enjoyed it.

Depending on how you roll, the Toledo Museum of Art is damn nice, and free, except for whatever special exhibit they have. They do accept donations though.

I would also say that Cedar Point is amazing. But if you are going mostly for the kids you could maybe stop at King's Island in Cincinnati on your way up. It is mostly kid oriented, although Cedar Point wouldn't be a bad choice either, as they do have a great kids section. Just depends on what your planning on doing.

I know you might not care, but if you come through Dayton, a Dayton Dragons baseball game would be a great idea. Much better than Tooollledo

Its very family oriented. If you do decide to go, buy tickets early as they sell out for every game. Speaking of Dayton, the National Air Force Museum is in Dayton as well. Its a great facility and they have an Imax theater as well. If you time it right you may even get to see a concert by the Air Force Band of Flight. Very cool. The museum itself is free admission and its a great experience. You could also visit downtown Dayton and see a recreation of the Wright Brothers' bicycle shop, great piece of history there as well. Dayton is my old stomping grounds, if you cant tell

Findlay has some nice hotels as well, located about 25 minutes from BG, worth checking out. Thats were we would always stay, because we had to have our pool and hot tub

Myles is a MUST for pizza. Its unlike any pizza you have ever seen. Also dairy queen would be good for the kids, IMO. Everything else mentioned are good ideas as well.

And FINALLY, make sure you come early for the tailgating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Mudhens game was a great recommendation. However, think about heading up I-75 about another 45 minutes and check out one of the best MLB parks in the country. Comerica Park is a great venue. I didn't check the schedule, so make sure the Tigers are at home that week.

AAA baseball season ends Labor Day weekend. Unfortunately, the Mud Hens are probably not an option, unless this game is that weekend.

While recognizing the obvious bias, I don't think you want to come across as unaware. I'll dispense with the sites that would draw partisan derision here but anybody that thinks the Toledo Museum of Art isn't worthwhile and one of the nation's finest, is in a minority. The breadth of work displayed is stunning and includes the architecture of the three main buildings- the copper clad, Frank Gehry designed School of Art; the main museum and the Glass Pavilion. In addition there are two large work areas that house the clay, metal shop and my home away from home, the forge and welding shop (no Flippers allowed!

).

The main building has a fascinating antiquities section (heavy on Egypt, Greece and Rome), a modern art section and a "Master's" section with paintings, sculpture and furniture from Europe, Asia and America. The art school section has occasional shows of local artists and has a large reference library. The main building also houses the Peristyle, a unique and beautiful concert venue that has seen performances by artists ranging from the Toledo Symphony to Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull. There is a cafeteria style restaurant in the main building as well.

The Glass Pavilion has a display of glass through the ages, regular glass blowing demonstrations, hour long workshops in bead making, glass fusing and seasonal glass workshops (think making glass candy canes around Christmas, etc) that are great fun for the kids.

The Glass Pavilion and Main Museum have nice giftshops and the Main Museum 's includes a large section of work for sale by local artists and TMA faculty. The downside is the cost to enter-Oh, wait, no- ITS FREE!

I could start on Toledo Botanical Gardens and the thriving art community there, not to mention the beautiful grounds, but I won't. The University of Toledo's Stranahan Arboretum is very nice as well and borders one of Toledo's finest (and they are all fine) Metroparks, Wildwood but I promised I wouldn't go on and on so I won't discuss any of these and I'll leave out the various concerts, shows and events at the Stranahan Theatre and exhibition center (check the schedule to see what's coming up that weekend).

Or your guests from Troy could stay in Findlay or Bowling Green. There are worthwhile things to do in both those cities as well.
