I'll be making a bacon explosion for the Homecoming game.
An alumni I work with challenged me to a burger-off for that game. I imagine with the right tweakings (or maybe none at all) the bacon explosion could be the perfect topping to the right burger. More details on that after boise!

Had to reach way back to dredge this one up
After being razzed about our 'texas' food, we have decided potatos are a must.
Anything exciting being planned by our friends from Boise?

Oddly enough, I havn't ran into any good potato recipes out here
As far as beer, I ran across one in an Irish pub in Boise you'd like. It's an amber ale called 'Kilt Lifter'. It's out of a microbrewery in Arizona, and is damn good! I believe it's about 7% alcohol. It's a tad heavy for a tailgate, but then again so is your menu, so you might be good. I know I can only finish about one with dinner, and it's (at least somewhat) appropriately named
And I know Niz. I need to get my AZZ to BG. Sorry buddy. If I had my way, you'd be picking me up in Detroit Friday afternoon.

I haven't fully finalized my menu yet. Bacon explosion is a definite. If I've got enough jalapenos in the garden ABTs are probably in the works as well.
I'm thinking about busting out the deep fryer as well, but that's still up in the air.

I was thinking about doing fried chicken or perch at some point this year, but I really don't feel comfortable being that enibriated while using a deep fryer.

I'm making the trip out with four other guys (including Penn State and North Carolina grads.)
Stopping in Cleveland on Friday for beers at Winking Lizard and the Tribe, staying at the Hampton Inn in BG.
We'll probably pick up some fried chicken somewhere and head out to the tailgate.

Dude, I've been using a deep fryer while drunk for years. I wouldn't recommend it for amateursThe Niz wrote:hammb wrote:I haven't fully finalized my menu yet. Bacon explosion is a definite. If I've got enough jalapenos in the garden ABTs are probably in the works as well.

Drunk? Is that what enibriated means? Somebody might have been enibriated while posting, no?hammb wrote:Dude, I've been using a deep fryer while drunk for years. Re: Boise State Tailgate Menu
Well guys, I'm ready to tailgate!!!! I've got stuff going on Thursday & Friday nights, so I had to get the food ready to roll. I have decided that I will take the deep fryer to the lot. My parents are going to bring some chicken wings; some will be fried, some will be BBQ. We'll also do some pizza rolls.
The Weber Kettle will also be making an appearance, and this is what we'll be cooking on there!
Completed Bacon Weave:

With Rub:

Now topped with 2 pounds of hot Italian Sausage:

A good coat of homemade BBQ sauce, and then some cooked crumbled bacon:

Now a layer of shredded sharp cheddar cheese:

Sausage and innards rolled up:

Final product all rolled up:

Also put together a batch of ABTs. The stuffing is minced garlic, cream cheese, shredded sharp cheddar, and some BBQ rub. Then, obviously, wrapped in a slice of bacon...although I ran out of bacon
