Crap. If this is true, what a very disappointing situation.falconmom wrote:This is PJ's third offense. I do believe he's done. Needless to say the team is very disappointed but are confident there are guys who can and will step up.

Unfortunately, I know for a fact that he and AT were very good buddies last year and I think that definitely has something to do with it. It sucks when a hometown kid doing so well does something so stupid.

If PJ Mahone, or any other player, can not follow the rules set forth by the coaching staff then they have no place on this team. He was a very good individual talent, but no player is bigger than the team.
Kudos to Coach Clawson for actually enforcing some discipline on the players who break the rules. Regardless of what the rule is, this is how it should be.
I don't care if Mahone was an All America talent, the team is better off for this.

Speaking of Michael Ream, he was in the blotter in today's BG News.KeyWestParrot wrote:If it does end up being this then wouldn't he have to remove him from the team like he did with Michael Ream just to keep things the same for everyone??? Are you just speculating that AT has something to do with it just because they are friends? If that is the case then there are a lot more guys guilty for smoking pot on this team. AT got in trouble his sophmore year here and you are putting PJs bad decisions on him? Might as well throw Ream in there too...damn't AT, why did you have to put that magic medicine in his pocket?

Re: Mahone suspended
No speculation needed, if in fact weed was the source of this suspension. I saw them a couple times, late at night, baked out of their minds. I knew AT from living across the hall from him my first year at BG and always said hi and whatnot and I got to know PJ from my work with BG24. They smoked pot...and a lot of times it was together.BGFootball wrote:VDub26Falcon wrote:Unfortunately, I know for a fact that he and AT were very good buddies last year and I think that definitely has something to do with it. Re: Mahone suspended
Listening to Clawson's press conference he shed some partial light on the suspension saying "PJ could be back with the team at some point this season if he does a coupe of things we've asked him to do?" That sounds more like academic problems to me.
I also like how Clawson said, "coaches don't suspend players, rather players make decisions that suspend themselves."

Again, no point speculating. Whatever P.J. did, the problem is being addressed. Whatever P.J. did and whatever is being done about it are between him, his family, the coaches, and the administration.Rollo83 wrote:Listening to Clawson's press conference he shed some partial light on the suspension saying "PJ could be back with the team at some point this season if he does a coupe of things we've asked him to do?" Really liking the line that Coach Clawson is drawing in the sand for his team. If you cross this line there will be consequences! I'm sorry to hear that P.J. has messed up, but who amongst us hasn't? You (hopefully) learn from your mistakes and don't make them in the future.

Hmm...4th quarter collapses, lots of penalties, and players getting in trouble/suspended/kicked off on the head coach's watch. Sounds like someone who used to be here...what's next? Poor attendance?

get over it
if he has a fourth quarter collapse against the EMU's and Miami's of the world like your boy did then you may just sightly have a point, not really, but maybe

Re: Mahone suspended
That really wasn't a fourth quarter collapse so much as our guys just getting down right exhausted after busting ass the entire game. A collapse would consist of the guys making mistakes such as turnovers...and we had no turnovers whatsoever, our guys were still bustin' ass, but just couldn't get the plays finished the way they needed to. You would know this even if you just listened to the game. As far as the players getting in trouble/suspended/whatever it is...unlike Brandon...Clawson has put his foot down and he has taken care of every single issue (which hasn't been many) that has come up, and has dealt with them as he has seen fit. He hasn't just let guys slide by. I'm pretty sure that of the issues that have come up, the majority of the people here seem to agree with the punishment, regardless of how much it may suck. If you don't like the way he takes care of things...tough...he's in charge and you aren't. At this point in time, Clawson is taking care of the mistakes left by Brandon (which aren't many at all) and so far, he is doing the job quite well. If he ends up doing a terrible job and letting players get away with things like drugs then he'll be outta here before too long just like your buddy Brandon.cowboyjoe wrote:Hmm...4th quarter collapses, lots of penalties, and players getting in trouble/suspended/kicked off on the head coach's watch. Look "Joe", we know you'd love to come back and all. We understand that you miss the community, the team, and the fans (even though the stadium isn't always full). However, you have a new job now. The people of Virginia need you to focus on helping them score. I know it's tough, but it's time to say goodbye and focus on your new job. Good luck "Joe", and take care. Buh-bye now.

Re: Mahone suspended
I for one hope PJ does what he needs to do and is able to make his way back onto the team. Clawson certainly made it seem like the possibility existed, I guess we'll see if PJ follows through with those steps or not...but the ball is in his court now.
GO BG!!!
