wow what a genius. STFU and go back to being a casual observerCasualobserver wrote:Here is the deal. The Motor City Bowl has first priority to pick the MAC Champions. In order to keep such a strong tie to a bowl that annually brings in 50,000 fans and National TV, the MAC Championship opponents could not accept bids to any other bowl because the Motor City Bowl wants the MAC Champion.
The GMAC ALWAYS needs to extend their bid as early as possible. They have traditionally wanted Marshall because of their ties to the South. The Motor City always wants Toledo because of their drawing power.
You people on here don't really have much of a clue how things work. For a school as good as you have been the last couple of years and NOT able to draw more than 18,000 a game, it is pathetic. You guys are still living off Meyer's recruits. Another couple of years and you are back to your normal, mediocre selves. Toledo will continue to be consistently dominant.
Hey, how about winning a road game? In addition, you guys are good, but not THAT good. Look at your wins this year:
SE Missouri State (3-8 in I-AA)
Temple (2-9)
Central Michigan (4-7)
Ball State (2-9)
Ohio (4-7)
Eastern Michigan (4-7)
Western Michigan (1-10)
Marshall (6-5)
Combined record of teams you beat: 26-62 (.295)

I think its great to be going GMAC. Its perfect for us, and I am glad they recognized our season, though if it weren't for the anomaly, it would be Miami in one and Toledo in the other.
Having said that...when we win two division titles in a row, as Miami has done....or when we win the West three out of four years as Toledo has done, then we can talk about being the MAC's most attractive team. I could care who got picked in what order. Until then, we have work to do.
Work that started yesterday with bowl practices, and will continue until 12/22 in Mobile, continue again in the spring and next Fall, and end with us bringing home a MAC title.

We have the same problem with some of the Toledo fans too. Unrealistic. You guys talk like the MAC and the country needs to be in awe of your program. Before the Toledo game, not one of the people on this board was realistic in their picks or scores. You have not shown you can be consistently good year-in and year-out. You have not shown you can win against teams with winning records. You have not shown you can beat good teams on the road. You have not shown that you can beat ranked teams either at home or on the road.
Until you do any of those things and start putting butts in your seats, you are pretending to be a great program. Until recently, Toledo was the ONLY MAC school to have hosted a Big-10 school, EVER. Until recently Toledo and Marshall were the ONLY teams to ever appear on National TV from the MAC.
Fans of Toledo have a very long and storied history to be proud of. Toledo fans also have a program that is consistently good over years to root for. That is the difference between Toledo and BG football programs.

You are not saying anything that comes as new to us or at least me. We know where are problems are and you are just simply restating them for the sake of....well I don't know. As far as the predictions go I don't think many of us post seriosuly on that, I personally I always post on what I would like to happen and not necessarily what I think will happen. They are predictions and they are simply done for fun.Casualobserver wrote:Typical redneck. Instead of trying to use logic to respond to the post, F*** You is all he can come up with. Given that UT will close within ten years given enrollment trends, we should start thinking now about who will become the new arch-rival. Maybe Owens could start a football program.
But seriously, I'm pleased as punch and proud BG got selected for the GMAC and believe the Falcons will put on a good show for the nation on the 22nd.

The GMAC bowl historically picks first and they always try to pick the "MOST EXCITING" team in the MAC. They picked Miami early last year, because they were the most exciting team. Big Ben proved that twice to our dismay. Prior years, GMAC picked Marshall because they were the best the MAC had to offer those years (sorry, but it's true - Byron Leftwich). This year they stated they would chose between NIU, UT, and BG and it could be either team because we were all 8-3. In the end, they picked BG. "Why BG?", some may say.
See the trend. They pick early and they pick the BEST.
GO BG!!!

what I said in another thread also applies here.
then again, the MCB does payout 50,000 more than the GMAC, a nice little reward to give to your MAC champ along with closer driving distances so more of their fans can attend. Of course congrats to the #1 team in the MAC(sarcasm) for being blessed with the preferrential driving further for less money.

This bowl has never waited until the MACC was over. Check your facts first. This game has first dibs, and yes, its' good that they took us, but they are under no obligation, nor have they ever been to wait until the MACC is over.BGorDeath wrote:Yes it does. I do not buy that because in the past this particular bowl has waited until after the MACC. We are the most attractive MAC team. Period.
