I wonder if they will sell beer at other home events, like hockey or next year at the Stroh. I think if they want to draw more students they have to find some way to get them excited about the games. Free thundersticks and selling beer aren't going to persuade them to come out. The students can drink beer at home. At other universities the football games are the place the to be, for whatever reason at BG it isn't. I don't really have an answer, but I hope that we have a good student showing this season.

Personally, I believe this is a horrible idea. What possible upside does it have? And no, I don't count making money as an upside.

The upside is this will take the edge off of bad football. Letting people tailgate and drink on university grounds but not in the stands makes less sense. This should reduce the lines at the food stands for you Tom! Your Upside!

If they want to bring in students, allow them to charge the beers to their meal plan. Its a win-win for BG. Every student 21 and up will get a meal plan, and they make a killing on selling overpriced beer.

I would have loved that - when I still had rollover from my scholarships, I wanted to buy beer from the union pub but found out you couldn't buy alcohol with it.... some legal issue apparently... lame.

The pub should be selling booze on BG1 (Not mealplan) soon. If they can do it, then I assume the stadium will be able to. Unfortunately, not many people use BG1.

Meh. I'll buy my beer before hand where it's 18$ for 24, rather than 15$ for 3.

There's still that time when you just want a beer in hand while watching football...I'll buy one or two the next time I make a game.

Donno. One girl nearly spilled an entire cup of beer on my son on the way up the stadium before the game, had two clearly buzzed buys, not being obnoxious but darned if they didn't seem painfully close to being so inclined had things gone bad.

Still, as much as I did see consumed, maybe it takes the edge of the tailgates as folks won't need to be buzzed coming into the game.
