Re: Aother player has left the team
I'm thinking birdman is a friend or relative of Pankratz...the complete whack-a-doodle meltdown he had discussing his departure was interesting...perhaps a bit revealing.
Any way..if you just respond to his "Clawson bad" schtick with a little logic he turtles up and retreats...promising to leave until the next whack-a-doodle outburst. He really has no clue when it comes to a nuts and bolts discussion of college football, so exposing his ignorance isn't the kind of job that would require you to pack a lunch

To preface I am guitly by posting this but all of you who continue to moan, say you blocked him, you're tired of him, you're done talking to him etc. are only validating birdman's intent. He is purposely trying to get under your skins! When you tell him this you're basically telling him good job, keeping posting thread after thread. You're all so sick of him yet every birdman thread gets 2 pages of responses. It is that diffiucult to see a new topic and not respond to it?jpfalcon09 wrote:I really hope BM leaves, because he's making me not want to participate much here anymore. Best of luck to Pagel and Pankratz. Good coaches trim the fat and its clear by Clawson's statements that Aaron wasn't going to factor into his plans this season.
I personally find some of the stuff he says says humourous. If you take it serious you probably need to find other things to do with your time.

Re: Aother player has left the team
I think birdman is probably a former player who either left the team voluntarily or was sort of "forced" out. The way he has handled this - going to a message board and bashing the program - I don't feel is a general reflection of the entire team. There are other players who either left or were shown the writing on the wall and I'm sure they're upset, but those players haven't thrown a fit publicly. That's what tells me this is more of a personal thing than it is about Clawson being mean.. although I'm not sure what the situation with Pankratz is. That seems a little messy because as others have mentioned, he is listed in the prospectus. I'm sure what it all boils down to is letting the better player play. Some people handle situations like this better than others. Instead of throwing a fit, maybe realizing that you're fortunate enough to get a scholarship in the first place and that there are probably other small schools out there that will give you a chance is a better solution?
What I will say is that after hearing some players talk about Clawson is that I don't think coach is actually forcing people out without giving them opportunities. Those meetings that birdman mentioned before were more than likely Clawson sitting a kid down and telling him that there wasn't a spot for him and that if he wanted to play, he was going to have to go somewhere else. I don't think Clawson has ever said "we're pulling your scholarship for lack of on-field production" - I think I would be upset with that. I think he gives players the best possible chance to succeed, which involves moving them around to different positions. Sometimes, it just doesn't work out. That's the way of life in college football.
And while sometimes it creates awkward situations where an incoming recruit starts ahead of someone who has been with the program for a few years, competitive recruiting is the best way to build a program. On one hand, promising a guy that he is going to play when you obviously know he isn't going to is wrong. I don't think Clawson is doing that. What he is doing is trying to build a competitive program the right way.. with competition. I'm in support of that. He's telling these kids that they're going to have an opportunity and the best will play. They commit to playing here, but no one is forcing them to. Some understand that there is going to be competition going in and some feel like they're entitled to play no matter what. Unfortunately the ones who feel entitled to play and don't will be the ones who complain the loudest.
My two cents. I hope Pankratz succeeds somewhere, good luck to him.

Yes...well put BGdodgeball...I might add that the people who feel entitled to something not only complain the loudest but often do the least amount of work to earn the "entitlement".

Re: Aother player has left the team
bgdodgball4: very nice post and thank you for trying to understand the side of parent and player. Some say that people who read my post need a life. Maybe that's true? My stand point is that the hire was wrong. At AA (sub div) he was average at best at schools that football is a after thought. Just my take on the hire. Time will tell, but I don't think it will happen. Go to practice and see the lack of players standing around. Most get very few reps. We have been threw this before. When you want to talk real football let me know. How about the the thread I posted about arm strength, post patterns, throwing over the middle. I just got replies about spelling, ect. Quite being a pretender stick to reading and enjoying the band which is a very fine band by the way. How many games did we make adjustments at halftime? If the shot gun isn't working run the bumaroski. We were three in out far to many times. BOO BOO gates was a running back in HS. We used him in the nickel on d. A player of his ability should never get of the field. Maybe give him a chance at running back. This kids a player. But That's fine by not responding to my post. I'm on top of the world and enjoying life. Those of you who have read this post this far maybe a girlfriend might help. If not bring it on. I have thick skin. For what's it's worth bgdodgball4 you have my respect.

That would certainly confirm everything I've ever suspected about BG academics.
