No player names on back of jersey's this year?

We didn't have names on the back of the uniforms last year, did we? I can't remember the other jerseys, but I am positive that the orange uni's had no names on the back.

They can't really play for name on the front of the jersey either...no name up there...just numbers.

If this is true, then count me as hating it last year as well. I like to see the names on the backs of the jerseys so I know who is who. With television coverage becoming more and more prevalent the NCAA should really mandate that they be on the jerseys at every school.

I have no problem with that. I was just surprised that people were talking like this was a new development, when I was pretty sure the jerseys last year hadn't had names either. I have trouble remembering things that happened five minutes ago, much less trying to remember which of the four guys wearing number 87 is taking the field (that's a hypothetical; I think there are actually eight guys wearing number 87).

Penn State hasn't had names on their back that I can ever recall. The point I was trying to make is, why change every year or so, just for shi@'s and giggles?

we all know it doesn't make the player any better or worse, I just can't understand what thought process triggers the inconsistant actions of the leadership in the program.

I'm with Hammb- you put their names there so fans know who did what. Dumb to not do it unless its a huge cost saver which I doubt.

I'm obviously in the minority here, but I never looked at the names on the jerseys. I can't see them from a distance anyway. My gripe is with the italicized numeral font we use. With a the way jerseys fit so tight now, it's difficult to tell what number is on the player if there is any wrinkle in the jersey. Especially with single digits.
