2011 Media Guide
Re: 2011 Media Guide
Thanks to all for the comments. While I'm not going to respond to everything on here, I do read everything and will post when necessary. If you would like to send me comments via e-mail, I'd love to hear from you at [email protected] and I'm much more comfortable conversing that way. All that being said, I will comment on a couple of things:
1 - There are no current openings within the football staff that I'm aware of. Positions may get restructured or have different titles, but the staff as it is currently constructed is the staff for the 2011 season.
2 - The company that takes all our photos on media day (team shots/positional photos/shots of managers, etc.) touches up the photos, makes sure all looks good, and then sends them to us. So we don't have the photos yet. That being said, we wanted to get the media guide up as soon as possible for our media to begin preparing for the year so that's why they haven't been included.
I do appreciate all the comments and suggestions and again would love to hear from you via e-mail if you've got ideas.
Thanks!
Jason Knavel

That's a helmet-to-helmet hit!Falcon137 wrote:The picture on pages 6-7 should be a poster.
But it would make an excellent poster for the Kent game!

Exorcised? like this?

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

The NCAA does prohibit color in media guides (even in .pdf's online) so that is why it is black-and-white. The best thing about the not printing media guides anymore is the fact that we can easily make a correction and get it re-posted.
Thanks!

I was aware of the color restrictions for media guides on just the covers when they were printed when I used to work on them myself a few years ago, but I printed three pdf media guides today from three different WAC schools (Utah State, New Mexico State and San Jose State) for a work project and they all not only had color covers on their pdf files for the guides, but color throughout the entire pdf for the remaining pages as well.
Check out Utah State for example: http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/ust ... BGuide.pdf
It has colored covers, colored facility and university pages, colored action photos, colored page banners, etc. It obviously makes the publication look much better as well. Could the rule have changed?
GO BG!!!
Re: 2011 Media Guide
Just to add another to the list, I helped move my Sister-in-Law into Tennessee for her Freshman year over the weekend. Saw copies of the media guide for sale on a shelf in their bookstore. I didn't stop to flip through it, so maybe it's all black and white on the interior pages, but the cover was definitely in color.BGSU33 wrote:BGSU SID wrote:I appreciate the feedback on the media guide and we will make the changes and get fixes uploaded to the web. We printed out the UT book and put it in the out house to replace the old Sears catalog.

Be sure to put the mustaches and glasses on the picture BEFORE you use it, 24. I hope you get this message in time.
Re: 2011 Media Guide
The more I have looked around, it seems everyone is doing color pdf versions in one form or another, either with covers or all the way throughout the pdf file of the guide. In fact, BG's is the only one entirely in black and white that I have come across so far.
GO BG!!!
