this the PD's message board. I first posted the link to the post about Josh coming to the Browns and the posts since then have been nothing but positive about J5.

Cleveland fans are really excited about this signing. Not as excited as us... but still...

Wow, the Browns fans over there are acting like they brought back Bernie! Hopefully McCown has a couple lousy drives and everyone starts booing/calling for Josh to get some PT. I may be one of them!! I haven't been this fired up for a Browns game since the playoffs of 2002 -- still can't believe the Steelers won that game.

This is great news. Now when Josh becomes #1 QB, thats yet another MAC QB starting for an NFL team. This just proves that we can put out just as good of players as the BCS. Way to go Josh, and I hope to see you on the field soon.

WHAT ABOUT NATE HYBL???

It was great to read Tami saying Josh would be the #2 after McCown.....but they have Nate Hybl on the practice squad. I know Josh is damn good, but I would be surprised if they put him ahead of Hybl who has been with the team off and on and probably knows the offense better, and has more Live NFL experience. But hey, I hope Josh is second string right away, and I doubly hope Luke McCown gets pulled/hurt!!!! This will be a great opportunity for Josh to prove to the Browns they should have taken him with that 4th rd pick instead!!!! Just wanted to get some Browns fans thouhts on the Hybl situation and how Harris fits in....I'm a Bills fan.....thanks.

Go JOSH HARRIS!!!
Go BG!!!

Not exactly sure on the rules, but I don't think a team can sign someone off another team's practice squad and put them on their own practice squad. Not to mention aside from geographic reasons, if they were going to sign him to a practice squad deal, I'm not sure that Josh (or anyone) would want to go from a practice squad contract with a contending team to the same situation with a team in that much disarray. Sure, the Browns seem to have a more wide open QB situation at the moment, but everything else is like a trailer park in a windstorm.

Besides, I believe Tami.

Yeah, I understand that but what is keeping them from signing Hybl off of their own Practice Squad and bumping Harris down to 3? Again heres to hoping it doesn't happen.

Why the heck not? The Browns know what Nate Hybl has. They've played him before and they see him in practice every week. With the team and organization in such utter chaos and disaray, why not sign a promising young QB off of another practice squad and see what he's got? And no, no one in their right mind would go from practice squad to practice squad. There would be little to no difference in pay, but there are moving costs/hassles involved that could not be justified or rationalized.

You see, if Josh proves to be less of a prospect than Hybl or McClown (intentional!), then they can just let him go within a year or two. I'm sure they didn't sign him to a multi-year deal or anything. You and I, on the other hand, know what a talent he is, and that Nate Hybl is now doomed to a long career on the practice squad! :D

ORANGE AND BROWN ALL OVER AGAIN! I hope to God he gets moved up to the starting role someday because watching the Browns and Steelers along with the Browns and everyone else would be great football again! This news just made my day and my whole week! Congrats to the Harris family!!!!! :)

There have to be other roster restrictions at play. I don't know what Garcia on IR does for the QB side of the roster, but even if he's not included, that still puts 4 QB's on the active roster, not to mention what they might have to pay Hybl if they activate him. I'm sure the players union has some clause that kicks in for a player to move off the practice squad.

Placing a player on IR removes that players salary from the salary cap for the team and removes the player from the maximum amount of players. It's almost like Garcia would be invisible. Only problem is once a player has been placed on the IR, he can't come back for the rest of the year.

Now that is some awesome news! Cleveland always seemed like a great place for him, IMO.
Our Miami, here's to thee!
