Re: Pick the MAC 2012 - Week 1
I'll say this much...week 1 is really tough. There are plenty of games on the board that I wouldn't be surprised to see go one way or another. Not your typical week of MAC vs Juggernaut easy loss or MAC vs FCS easy win outside of a few games.
Here's my picks:
Thursday, August 30
UCF at Akron - UCF - Akron is most likely improved this season, but not enough to beat Central Florida
E. Michigan at Ball St. - Ball State - Cardinals take out EMU in a close one
SE Missouri St. at Central Michigan - Central Michigan - No trouble for the Chippewas, who should be much improved this season.
Towson at Kent State - Kent State - Kent probably won't be impressive, but they'll do enough to win here.
UMass at Connecticut - Connecticut - I'm thinking its going to be a long year for UMass. UConn big.
Saturday, September 1
Buffalo at Georgia - Georgia - Ditto for Fuffalo - Bulldogs big.
Miami (Ohio) at Ohio St. - Ohio State - Something tells me that this one could be close, Miami nearly took out Florida last year in week 1, but OSU gets it done.
Ohio at Penn St. - Ohio - Really tough game to call with PSU playing for pride and respect, but the Bobcats are more talented at this point. If they play their game, they win.
Western Michigan at Illinois - Western Michigan - Sorry Timmee, the Broncos will beat you up, maybe on a late TD when you didn't call time out to get the ball back.
Iowa at Northern Illinois - Northern Illinois - Wow, another rough one. NIU is going to be scary good this year, and I know Iowa's big, but still going with NIU at home.
Bowling Green at Florida - Florida - As much as I want to go for the upset and I think the game will be competitive, the Gators prove too much for BG.
Toledo at Arizona - Arizona - The Rockets just don't have a good track record against the Wildcats. Arizona wins by a bunch.
