The last time a ranked team from Kent State University played at BG was in March of 2009.
That was the KSU basketball team, who was beaten by BG in front of a packed, mad house at Anderson Arena.

24. Quality provider of the truth, for better or for worse.

24, I think that was March 2008. But you're right on. That was one cool game, one that BG dominated basically from the beginning and was a springboard for a solid regular season title run of 2008 to 2009.

I think the "official" correct answer is NIU in 2003. I don't think the MACC was considered a "home game" as it was hosted by the MAC, not BGSU...

True dat...and our D is gonna be an all new animal for Kent to deal with this week.BGSU33 wrote:What is eye-popping about Kent State's running backs is they have not one - but TWO - 1,000-yard rushers this year in Durham (1,059) and Archer (1,043)!!!! Archer is averaging nearly 10 ypc (9.7). If you miss this guy, he is GONE! Period. I know our defense has done a great job nearly all season long locking down on teams' top rusher, but this is going to be an all new animal to deal with this week.

My back blew up early last week and I spent a good chunk of the week in the hospital, including being on the operating table Wednesday instead of in Athens where I would have been
Can't wait for this saturday and hoping the back will allow me to make the trip and be there for this one.
I got a chance to watch Kent play this past Saturday, which was at least the 3rd time I've watched them this year. If anyone has any doubt that team is for real, set it aside. They are the 2nd best team we will have played this year and with Florida's near miracle win against Loiusiana-Lafayette, I don't put a whole heck of a lot of distance between them and the Gators.
They have a solid defense, but it's not at the level of ours. Their offense is where they have the advantage. They have the power and speed 1-2 running punch, with a QB who isn't flashy, but he's an accurate passer, can move around in the pocket and even serve as a running threat, when needed. They will definitely be the most dynamic offense we have seen. We will have to play mistake free in terms of turnovers, penalties and special teams blunders. On the offensive side, we somehow have to come up with some semblance of a passing threat. Kent has enough good defenders that if they can load up everyone on the line of scrimmage and completely disregard any thought of defending the pass, we are going to have a very hard time running it. I'm hoping our game plan includes some imaginative and diverse, high percentage passes early on, so as to make Kent defend that aspect. If we can do that and play the way we're capable of playing in all areas, we can win it.
Gonna be a heck of a game. Go Falcons!
