LOL at that team up north BTW. Ryan A at the Blade says they're not bowling. This past weekend has been the best weekend in college football history. BGSU wipes the field with NIU and wins the MAC, OSU loses followed by Meyer crying like Tebow, and that team up north misses a bowl game!!

Well, that team up north did beat the top two teams in the MAC East. I wouldn't get too carried away.

Toledo got jobbed, plain and simple. I dunno what back room shenanigans went on but Toledo is better than Ohio, played a tougher schedule and beat better teams.

No question. I almost....almost...feel bad that Toledo isn't going bowling and Ohio is. Maybe if Toledo didn't beat us in the manner they did I would have a little more compassion. But I do have some for the Rockets. Toledo had a better conference record, same overall record and beat teams like Buffalo and BG who both blasted Ohio. If the reason was they lost to Akron, that just doesn't hold up IMO. That same Akron team won 4 of its last 5 and "should" have beaten Michigan on the road, the same Michigan team that "could" have beaten Ohio State. But this is a perfect example of the importance of winning. Had we lost to UB, we wouldn't have won a MAC Championship (because we wouldn't have played for one) and we could have been out left hanging high and dry.

Unfortunately for Toledo, its not about who's better. It might be as simple as people have heard of Solich and Ohio looked good in a bowl game last year and Toledo did not and maybe who finished with a win. I hope Ohio plays like they did last year and wins.

To me the bowls boil down to three things: location, opponent and venue. BG is playing in the best facility of all the MAC bowls and and is the only MAC team facing a BCS team. We fall a little short to some in terms of the location, but to me, we were awarded the best overall bowl based on two of those three. I hope we can return the same kind of crowd and enthusiasm and then some. That was an awesome and lively bunch of Falcon fans, one I'm not accustomed to seeing out of our fan base very often. Loved it!

Your Bowling Green State University Falcons are headed back to Detroit to play in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl against Pitt! Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00 pm on Thursday, December 26th at Ford Field. Ticket information will be available tomorrow, but will be $15 for fans and $5 for students.

This is also another chance at an elusive win over a BCS team. We used to record one just about every year for awhile and saw a shot at one earlier slip away. But we can wrap up a helluva season by getting one over Pitt.

I think its worth noting that BGSU's last win over a BCS conference opponent was in 2008, against Pittsburgh. BG won that game 27-17. That was also our last victory against a ranked opponent prior to Friday night's victory against Northern Illinois.
