This is awful....Gallon came into the program coming of the worst season in team history and he was a key player in the turn around (that game at home against Kent was amazing). I was really looking forward to seeing him work in the new offense. Hopefully, we'll still get that chance in the future.

I'm going to say yes. The recovery process is 9-12 months. Of course, Adrian Peterson tore his in December, and came back to rush for 2,000 yards the next season (8 months after surgery). But he is a freak. My daughter tore hers last August, did all the rehab, still wasn't cleared for full activity when she mysteriously tore her meniscus and partially tore the repaired ACL this spring. So two ACL replacements in the same knee in a span of 8 months. It sucks.

A terrible break for Chris and for the program. Yes, barring other injuries to our receiving corps, we should still be ok in that department for this year, given our depth. However, any team with a healthy Chris Gallon on the field is certainly better than that team without him.

I just hope he can come back from it. I've never been in that situation, but I would have to think it's got to be incredibly demoralizing to do all that work and have it happen again when you're close to making it back. Some guys just aren't able to recover from the 2nd one. It brings to mind Eric Ransom. In the very brief time we had him (5 quarters), It looked like that guy was going to be a huge impact player for us - he was outstanding in that win at Minnesota. I was there the following week at the Michigan State game when he caught that swing out pass, planted his foot and went down in a heap. The instant it happened, it was pretty obvious he blew out the knee. Then it happened again the following year in practice before the season started and he never made it back. I hope Chris can fight through it and get back on the field. Best wishes to him.

I often wonder how many people know he even played with us in so somewhat recent years. Two short games and not one home game. Big things were expected from him.

I remember him quite well. So does the 2007 Minnesota defense. He caught Sheehan's first career TD, a 50+ yarder.

He only had 2 years of eligibility when he came to us, but if he hadn't had the serious injuries and had gotten to play the 2 years to his full potential, I think everyone would have remembered him. Ransom on the same field for 2 years with Freddie Barnes would have been fun to watch. Injuries are part of the game of course, but it's really tough to see when a promising talent gets snakebitten by something serious on multiple occasions. Really feel bad for those guys. Pulling for Chris to make it back.

The fact that I was actually at both of those games is probably the only reason I remember him

I had forgotten that. What a story. Coming back that quick is amazing, but Kurt was a pretty amazing player. Thanks for posting. Hopefully, Chris will look at what Kurt was able to do and it can serve as some inspiration in his recovery.

Kurt is one of my all time fave WR's...and we've had a ton of good ones over the last couple decades. Nice kid, cool family and he caught everything within 2 feet him.

Ron Heard, Reggie Thornton, Mark Szlachcic, Ronnie and Robert Redd, Kurt Gerling, Cole Magner, Charles Sharon, Steve Sanders, Freddie Barnes, Cory Partridge, Kamar Jordan...........and many others could be on the list. Since the late 80's we've had some outstanding receivers. Granted, other MAC schools have had some guys that have gone on to more individual success in the NFL than BG products, but I can't believe any other school in the league has turned out a better overall crop of receivers over the last 25 years than what have come through here.

Greg Jennings, Lance Moore, Jordan White, Dante Ridgeway, Martin Nance, Domenik Hixon, Sam Hurd, Naaman Roosevelt, oh & Randy Moss.

Yea, I'd say the MAC has had some "talent" at WR.
