Re: Baylor WR Transferring
He's a 5* recruit that was ranked as high as #3 at his position...ESPN had him at #35 ( regardless of position) in the entire country in thier ESPN350 rankings . We...hell the conference...has never seen a guy with that pedigree before (possible exception being Randy Moss...but e enrolled at Mooshall before they joined the MAC).
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

This is how I feel. I don't like taking chances on "suspect" players but we all make dumb choices. God knows I have...BUT, if he messes up, he should be gone. The kid is clearly talented.Redwingtom wrote:It's certainly worth taking the chance. And it's good that he has to sit out a year too. If he can stay clean and out of trouble for year that would certainly be a good sign that he's got it figured out.

Mike, Agree with you on taking in 'suspect' players..... this means that TWO of our new WR's have had some "history" prior to coming to BG...Hope they can get straightened out, but we've already got another kid in possible major problems re: attempted rape.....scares me to think that we could become like the OSU marching band..... (OK....so I'm getting a bit overboard on that one).....I've always bragged about our somewhat "clean" program...not perfect by any means.Falconfreak90 wrote:This is how I feel. I would say it's a fair concern to have. I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt, but there is no room for error. I don't want a 'win at all costs' program. I'm hoping all of the players earn the right to play, and if violating law, school policies, etc...happen that Coach Babers comes down on the side of doing the right thing.

Re: Baylor WR Transferring
I like the fact that he has a whole year to sit out, stay clean and prove that he's not going to mess up again. Plenty of time to make both good and/or bad decisions. Let's hope that he makes all good ones!!

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Re: Baylor WR Transferring
Hopefully he stays clean. We would have a potentially unstoppable receiving corps if he is as good as his ratings suggest. MAC defenses wouldn't have a prayer.
Re: Baylor WR Transferring
I thought Sevon Pittman (Ohio State transfer to Akron) and Jordan Haden (Florida transfer to Toledo) might have been up there but they were both four star guys, not five star. Beat that Fleck!Flipper wrote:He's a 5* recruit that was ranked as high as #3 at his position...ESPN had him at #35 ( regardless of position) in the entire country in thier ESPN350 rankings . 61, don't forget that one of those two receivers (I assume you mean Roger Lewis) was recruited by Coach Clawson and staff. Essentially, Roger committed to the old staff and stayed with the new staff. He certainly is working hard. We certainly want all of our student-athletes to be good representatives for Bowling Green.

What is going on with Rhodes? Looking good in practice?
He is not on the 2-deep yet and I have not heard a thing about him.
BTW... Hustle Belt just named in the #15 best in the MAC

Re: Baylor WR Transferring
The two-deep issued for fall camp isn't a reflection of what to expect come game 1, it'll in all likelihood either not be updated or be updated infrequently during the course of the year. If you remember last year, the two-deep listed guys who were out with injury on numerous occasions for games.thewebboy wrote:What is going on with Rhodes? Looking good in practice?

The fact that Jermal Hosley is listed and he hasn't taken a snap in two years leaves me rather suspect of the current two-deep but I guarantee you will see Rhodes on the field this year, just not sure how much and in what role.
Babers has mentioned that positions this year so far have been very competitive and that guys who think they've secured a starting role may be surprised by the results by the end of the month. I do wish some of the media types covering the team would ask Babers specifically about Rhodes however given the amount of hype which surrounded him.
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.
Re: Baylor WR Transferring
I agree. On the games notes last year we had guys listed as starters who were out and not even playing. The depth chart last year was essentially useless. I'm gathering the info passed along to our SID when Clawson was here was much better as it was way more accurate, so I'm assuming Babers is the reason it was so spotty last year and not the SID. Clawson was much more forthcoming with injuries than Babers is.jpfalcon09 wrote:The two-deep issued for fall camp isn't a reflection of what to expect come game 1, it'll in all likelihood either not be updated or be updated infrequently during the course of the year. Indeed. For anyone going to the scrimmage on Saturday, keep an eye out for him. He's switched from 80 to 7.BGSU33 wrote:I agree. Re: Baylor WR Transferring
Is it possible Rhodes is disciplined for the Tennessee game for his role in the May bar fight? That would explain not being listed on the week 1 depth chart. Like JP said, Babers keeps everything so tightlipped it's impossible to know.
Re: Baylor WR Transferring
Very possible but like everyone else has said put zero stock in a Babers depth chart.

Re: Baylor WR Transferring
I asked Thomas Schmeltz on Twitter about it and he said Rhodes has been dealing with a shoulder injury so his practice reps have been limited thus far.kdog27 wrote:Very possible but like everyone else has said put zero stock in a Babers depth chart.
