I disagree, that logo looks like crap (so glad we got rid of it) and today so did we. With those helmets and that offense today, I felt like I was watching BG in Blackney's last year.

WMU's helmets are a little weird, but I like their uniforms. They wear brown. They embrace the color the way we should in Bowling Green.
You and I are of like mind in the use of brown in the athletic department's uniforms. You see it with many of the other programs (baseball, softball, gymnastics, and hockey) but not football or basketball. With hope, the Nike contract will bring copious amounts of the seal brown.

And you may now admit your bias.

Over the years, we've been fed the line that Adidas couldn't get the brown fabric we needed for our uniforms.

Why does WMU show up in Adidas uniforms with brown pants and all the coaches in brown shirts?

Because our previous AD probably sold us a fake bill of goods. He didn't like brown, so tried to change it to black, just like he didn't like the old LT Falcon head, so he changed that.

So very happy that Kingston is open to honoring the past by bringing back the LT Falcon head for Legacy Weekend! :supz:

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

This is a good question.

The Western Michigan uniforms look at least as good as ours, in my opinion. Maybe better.

(And all that brown clearly has not hurt recruiting in Kalamazoo)

FWIW, You guys might remember that I'd mentioned a couple of yrs ago that my son, a lacrosse coach at Hudson HS, told me that Adidas did not carry Brown as a " primary color" . He's in touch with equip. Folks all the time so I feel he knows what hes talking about..does this mean that Adidas couldn't get brown? Or that they didn't want to spend time...and money for a limited demand. Nike should not have the same prob...unless the Browns change colors too. \:D/

Loved the helmets, hated the way we played. Everyone has their opinion of that logo and mine is that it's a cryin' shame they got rid of it.

I would love to see us pull out that logo without the white fill (Omar era) and put it on our white helmets at some point. That would look great with an old style brown jersey.

I was thinking about that the other day. My junior year, the Athletic Band got brown polo shirts made by Adidas. I thought the brown looked really good in the stands.

And major +1 to bringing back the LT Falcon. I admit, the new logo has grown on me, but only when it's with the interlocking BG. It looks terrible on its own.

Perhaps if we had green helmets with an Ohio logo on them you would approve. We get it, you don't like the old logo. You're in the minority here, though, so get over it. Repeating yourself over and over isn't going to convince anyone that you're opinion is the only one that matters.

Are you sure?

I liked the old one well enough. It was fun seeing the old helmets again this weekend. A lot of great players wore those hats. But if I was going to start over on a logo from scratch, I would pick the new one. I'm happy with it. I don't pine to go back.

I don't like change for change's sake when it comes to uniforms and things, but I think this was a well-thought out move, and I support it.

There is a difference between what you just said and his absolute disdain for the old logo. I don't hate the new logo but it reminds me too much of the Miami's logo. Given that it's our former AD's alma mater, I don't find that to be a coincidence. The old logo was unique and, IMO, brilliant in its simplicity.

I prefer the new logo over the old one...used to get asked "what the hell is that supposed to be"? when wearing BG gear with the old logo away from NW Ohio

I always answer this with either:

"It's a secret symbol recognized only by the illuminati."

or

"You can only tell what it is if you are not sexually repressed."

While we're busy patting ourselves on the back for honoring the past we need to keep in mind that other places are thinking about the future by enhancing their facilities (like their football stadiums) and upgrading their recruiting budgets and coaching salaries. Kingston was right to mention how the soft and fuzzy trips down memory lane should also lead to a reconnection between the alumni and their school. Finding the next Stroh, Frack or Haas is critical to extend the legacy of success and not just wistfully reminisce about it.
