That's the funny thing. That guy Nick who runs the Vandelay site -- technically, a media guy -- has said the same thing.Redwingtom wrote:Let's not get too excited yet...he did add this little diddy to the article...
"Why not: Most of Jacobs' receiving corps is gone."
Yep...Manger and whoever our tight end was last year are gone.
Why? Most of our receivers are back.
To me, the O-line is more of a concern, although I think we've got some fine young talent ready to step up.

Fair enough. Maybe I'm minimizing this too much.Flipper wrote:Cmac, Hawk and Magner are gone. We're going to need a possession WR next year to replace those guys
But we do have Sharon and Sanders back: Two of our top three in catches, and our top two in yards.
The fact that we didn't sign a single receiver last tells me Brandon has an idea about who is ready to step up (although I don't).
The way I see it, Brandon will have an easier time finding two more kids for Omar to throw too than he will filling three holes on an uncommonly good offensive line.
I'll stand corrected on any of this, though.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, or piss on the proverbial leg, but in my opinion it just goes to show how fast a program can fall from grace to see that Utah, after winning the Fiesta Bowl convincingly does not appear anywhere in the top 25. They are but a footnote at the bottom with -- TURDLEDO! I am hesitant to share in Hammb's enthusiasm for program legitimization after that! I mean, seriously, what more do you have to do to gain respect? I don't care where your coach goes!

While dropping them out of the top 25 might be a *bit* harsh, they lose a WHOLE lot more than their coach. Their QB is going pro, I think that WR Savoy graduated, and I'm sure they've lost a few others here and there. They will be a shell of this year's team by the time August rolls around.Bleeding Orange wrote: I mean, seriously, what more do you have to do to gain respect? I don't care where your coach goes!
He's right though that is quite a drastic fall. I remember when Meyer left one of those sports publications predicted that BG was on the fall and UCF was on the rise.
