Right... that's a good thing. Work hard, play by the rules have some success and get a better opportunity. America is an awesome place!

I'll never understand the sentiment about these guys leaving for jobs that we don't see as good, premier jobs. When was the last time a MAC coach DID leave for a job we would call a premier job?

The premier jobs in college football aren't even considering a MAC coach as a viable candidate. They have no reason to. They'll let the Illinois, Iowa States, Utahs, and Wake Forests weed out which successful MAC coaches are worthy of taking that next step. The money at the premier schools has gotten so insanely stupid that they can afford to be picky. And the money those premier schools share with their conference brethren has allowed those crap jobs to, at the very least, pay money that dwarfs what we can afford.

The best that these MAC guys can hope for is to get out as soon as possible. You cannot afford even a single down season at the MAC if you wanna move your career forward. Get out while the getting is good, and hope that you can find one of these crappy power5 teams that actually has a little talent somewhere on the roster and you can spark something. Show a couple years of improvement and move up.

The day I fear is when we start losing our Dino Babers type coaches to coordinator jobs at the premier schools. They can certainly afford to pay more for an OC than we do for a HC, and having success at that level would make him the HOT coaching candidate. A guy that had coordinator success at a top 20 program and HC success in a prior stop? He'd be inline for the creme de la creme right quick, IMO.

At Bowling Green, coaches come and coaches go.

But there is one constant: Bowling Green plays for championships -- and, at Toledo, it has been 4,016 days since this was the case.

I do find this hilarious for all the right reasons.

Having said that, it does bring up the eternal question (for us, anyway): would you rather beat your rival consistently or play for MAC titles? Not saying it SHOULD be an "either/or" scenario, but given recent history, it seems like that's the case.

If BG wins the MAC title Friday, I'll feel JUST SLIGHTLY BETTER about the fact that slUT has beaten us for six years in a row. I guess at the end of the day, if you can hoist the trophy, what happened before is simply history.

Ill take the MAC Championship every single time. The Rockette dum dums prattle on and on about their great history, recruiting classes, stadium and attendance (Which are both pretty lackluster). Every year they hope that this finally the year that they break through and become the next Boisie State....whatever that means in today's world. August's optimism inevitably becomes December's bitter disappointment as they struggle to figure out what went wrong.....again.

This year has been great. They spent months eviscerating their offensive coordinator while praising Campbell. Campbell leaves and immediately becomes the target of their abuse while the OC becomes a great choice for HC because he offers "continuity". You want to continue to finish third in your division? I've never seen so many delusional people in one place.

Oddly enough, I miss ol' Toledo Tom...he and GB added a certain spice to the rivalry which I feel has been missing since both coaches were canned.

Both schools are unable to keep coaches long enough to make much of the rivalry.

Amstutz was part of the rivalry for like 20 years as a player / coach at Toledo.

Brandon was part of it 8 for years. Those 2 are the coaches I think of when it comes to the rivalry.

Or, maybe Toledo fans should petition to bring these guys back into the MAC.

The last time Toledo played in the MAC championship game, Central Florida was still playing MAC football.

That was 4,018 days ago.

Toledo may beat Temple tonight in Boca Raton. Or they may not.

But it has been 4,037 days since Toledo has played for a MAC championship.
