If the common belief is that many people won't make this trip which means BG won't meet it's ticket quota thus costing the University athletic department tens of thousands of dollars to go to a crappy bowl.

Turn the damn bowl down and hope we can play Temple or Nebraska in a different bowl.

I don't get how the Go Daddy has "first pick" yet Western is the first to get a bowl bid from the league. Just because we've been with the Go Daddy longest doesn't mean they should just get first pick, especially when the other tie in is the Sun Belt. Hell with none of the bowls close to any of the schools no bowl should have first pick, the league should work with our tie ins to get the best possible match ups. The MAC should have done its champ better.

Seems to me that the league champion should get THEIR pick of our tie in bowl games!

That would be pretty damn cool if it worked that way.

This is a very disappointing match up.

Mobile is a fun trip. I really do appreciate this game. They are good hosts. But if a new-to-FBS also ran from the Sun Belt is the best opponent that Mobile can find for the MAC, maybe they shouldn't get the first pick from the MAC.

Assume Mobile passed on Western Michigan. Maybe other bowls did too (I don't know the pecking order) until they were available to the Bahamas.

Do you think if we had Babers we would been invited to a better bowl..... Hard to know what to expect without a HC.

No. Mobile gets first pick and is taking BG.

Toledo heads to S Florida to play a AAC team and NIU San Diego to play a high profile MWC team...

This probably has something to do with what Bowl gets first choice of MAC teams...

Bowl Per Team Payout

Cameliia (TBA)
Famous Idaho Potato $325,000
Boca Raton $400,000
Go Daddy $750,000
Bahamas (TBA)

Poinsetta# $612,500
#= not a MAC bowl tie-in

Western was selected first because plans needed to be made to get players, coaches and fans enough time to get passports.

I agree the matchup is disappointing but we're coming off a little bit spoiled sounding here. Team has a chance for 11 wins, the game will be on ESPN in prime time so most folks can watch it and Mobile does a great job putting on this game.

Politics, posturing, and self image issues aside- this will be a tough football game to win. Coach Fritz runs a SOLID program and hard to prepare for system. Gave UGA all they could handle.

Toledo gets Temple in Boca. 3rd place team in the west gets the conference's marquee game. Because of course.

A BG/GS match p will draw some hype as a quality under the radar match up... unlike the Camellia Bowl last year. That game had a "participation trophy" quality to it that made winning seem.....anticlimactic

Playing in the "[insert sponsor here] Bowl" is the epitome of participation-trophy quality. At least the Camellia Bowl had an actual name.
