Not good at all. Still will go in the 4-5 round range and be a solid pro.

Late round or UDFA.... His measurables are similar to Freddie Barnes.

Re: Lewis at Combine
I think THESE measurables ARE similar to Freddie's. But they are a different type WR. Barnes was a true "route runner" able to get open in many ways., whereas Roger is more of a pure deep threat. ..... Kind of a "fly" and "go" guy. This is where these times are going to hurt his draft status IMO.

Re: Lewis at Combine
I think 33 nailed it on his assessment. Great top end speed but not great 40 speed.

Average speed this year for WR is 4.56. NFL.com had Lewis' speed at 4.57. He will get another chance at his pro day to wow the scouts. Tape is usually the most important thing on these guys.

Flipper said measurables and even posted numbers. Then you bring up style? He never mentioned styleGlobetrotter wrote:They are totally different styles of players.Flipper wrote:Barnes...6ft. 215 lbs. 4.6+ 40..put up big numbers attributed to the system.Globetrotter wrote:I wouldnt compare him at all to Freddie Barnes.Flipper wrote:Late round or UDFA.... Re: Lewis at Combine
exactly...their measurables are almost exactly the same. In terms of "style"..well, that's a function of the offense in college as much as anything. Barnes ran his share of go routes and screens...but if memory serves, he ran his far share of outs and dig routes to and drags to t he middle of the field. Lewis was...by design...more one dimensional... running go routes and screen almost exclusively.
So..as 61 more or less stated...Barnes demonstrated a more varied skill set to go with his measurables. I don't see how that puts Lewis in a positive light comparably.
Hopefully...Lewis will excel in the positional drills and show the potential to be more varied than he was in college

Yeah average speed this year is that slow, in a year the announcers are saying how this is the slowest group of wrs they can remember.daspollak wrote:https://mobile.twitter.com/nflnetwork/s ... 94112?s=09

That time does not help Lewis at all. His tape is essentially a two route wr who just proved he cannot do in the nfl what he did in college. He doesn't have elite hops, size, or hands to make up for that lack of speed. I didn't see his position drills, but I don't think he's that explosive of an athlete.
I'm worried that he made a major mistake in leaving early. I'd be pretty surprised if he goes before the 6th round. This was his shot. The pro day is nice but there probably won't be a dozen teams that actually show up at the bg pro day.
Re: Lewis at Combine
Just FYI that we had scouts from 26 NFL teams at our Pro Day last year and considering the "draftable" players expected to take part in our Pro Day this year, I would be surprised if that number dipped.
Re: Lewis at Combine
I wouldn't either. Two very different players. Lewis IS a WR. Barnes was an athlete who found his niche at WR. We utilized Barnes' skill set as he was a more versatile overall player. He could work the underneath routes and could play both in the slot and out wide. But Lewis has more potential and is more of a big-play threat.Globetrotter wrote:I wouldnt compare him at all to Freddie Barnes.Flipper wrote:Late round or UDFA.... Re: Lewis at Combine
Big play threat? The NFL doesn't look at 6ft tall guys who run a 4.6 as a big play guy. They're the same guy...but Freddie was more developed even though he was a QB for two years.
I'm honestly not trying to piss all over the kid, but this idea that he's going to be percieved as some kind of deep threat seems out of sync with reality.
