I never understood the idea of not having a special teams coordinator. Coaches talk and stress all the time the importance of being fundamentally sound in all three phases of the game (offense, defense, special teams). Yet, you sometimes see the special teams handled like an afterthought. You often get out of special teams what you put into them.
