I don't blame Bowling Green for tying Ohio State tickets to a Falcon Club donation or a season ticket. BGSU has done this before for certain contests. It makes sense.
But to tie it to both a season ticket and a Falcon Club donation? (That's the way I'm reading it.) That's a bridge too far for me.
I live close to 300 miles away from Perry Stadium. It would be nice to attend every game, but that's not possible for me. The idea that I would have to buy several season tickets that I will not use rubs me the wrong way.
I like to go to a big nonconference game every year. I was looking at the Ohio State game, but I may end up going to Memphis, instead.

I totally agree. If someone has been a ST holder/FC member for 1,5,30,whatever years, the ticket office should say "thank you for your support, how many tickets?" regardless if that person ever drops another dime on BG athletics going forward.pdt1081 wrote:For the record, I'm not referring just to these tickets. Although, for these they should have been offered to season ticket holders first, based on length of time as such, then Falcon Club members, then general public. Personally, I'm a very big fan of not pissing off those that have stuck by the program/university through the rough times, but that's just me.TG1996 wrote:If BG didn't have some form of policy to best ensure BG fans were getting a shot at those tickets, they'd be gone in 10 minutes to aOSU fans, scampers, etc. Then there'd be a whole thread about how we're getting screwed over by the ticket office because aOSU fans scooped up the tickets first. It's a pretty common practice anymore to attach some form of "donation" to the high-demand tickets and (without knowing the actual "rules of eligibility") I support BG for doing it this way. If an aOSU fan wants the tickets that bad, make sure BG gets some of their money to keep in NW Ohio.
That said, there needs to be some leeway on our end to accommodate BG fans who are/have been season ticket holders or Falcon Club members. If you've demonstrated financial loyalty to BG, that needs to be good enough, generally speaking.
Go BG!

The real problem is that any of us that have been season ticket holders and FC members for 20-30 years or more, were used to people in the ticket office that had been around that long too. Now we have students at the window or processing ticket applications and office management that have been around a year or so and don't know anyone, so they try and "play by the rules" rather than knowing we will renew when we get around to it! We have changed people in the ticket office and Falcon Club as often as some people change underwear!

Bring back Scot Bressler! The ticket office hasn't been the same since he left.
Re: Getting Tickets for OSU game
What it boils down to for me is that Falcon sports just aren't as important to me as they were years ago. Times change, we get older and most importantly, personnel at BG has changed. Now I am dealing with strangers but before they were long time employees and many were friends. Scott Bressler was great as was his predecessor, Mrs. Meek. Also, as I age, BG has become less important to me. I enjoy going to games when I get a chance, but I no longer bleed orange and brown. I used to stew for days when we lost an important game. Now it bothers me for just minutes. Priorities change. I do not feel compelled to spend my money at a university that has changed so much (or maybe I have) since I attended over 30 years ago. I will always root for the Falcons, but I no longer feel the pain of each loss. May the next generations take over and agonize like I used to. Go BG!
