Talk on twitter is that one of the assistants told a player "I don't give a f**k about your senior year". You already have a coach still working here after smacking a bar employee and now you have this? WTF is up with this ?
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: Is this the worst team in BG history?
The offense has put points on the board the last few weeks. Thus, I don't think they are the worst offense since 19??. But the defense just may be one of the worst in DI and one of the worst here in some time.

I have a hunch that Jinks and his staff will be out of here in 2018. I don't necessarily fault Dino for what's going on...he did after all recruit Morgan and a few other guys who would be making an impact this year if not for injuries...but it was painfully obvious he wasn't invested in being here long-term. As mentioned before, you're under the third coach in four seasons. Instability like that is going to tear through a mid-major program and take several years to recover from. I'm just not sold that Jinks is the right guy for the job given what I've seen this year...there's no coaching being done during games and certainly no adjustments being made either.footballguy51 wrote:I have a hunch this will be a Clawson rebuild. Babers Sucked a lot out of this program and didn't put much into it. We now have a team that struggles with chemistry and can't find an identity. The team is fighting with itself because discipline is being re-instituted. This might be a 2-10 year. I'd be curious to see how we fare the next year. I know many players were not happy with having a coach enforce the rules, but having a team that is structured and follows rules can only lead to good things in the long run.
As far as quantifying the worst team ever...that's extremely difficult given the landscape of college football today compared to 15-30 years ago. BG has displayed this year that they don't have the talent or coaching to be able to stop anyone who runs an up-tempo offense, and the turnovers/mistakes being made this season are largely inexcusable.

With so much turnover " you're under the third coach in four seasons. Instability like that is going to tear through a mid-major program and take several years to recover from" It makes it a tougher sell when recruiting. All a prospective player needs to do is check these boards and see we all think Jinks is probably not thoroughly committed to staying here. Visit here and see the lack of fan support, ect, ect. and it all adds up to, well: Whoring in Columbus, then games that offer little D and can't keep too many teams below 40ppg.
The bright side is BGSU offers solid academic programs and the football team usually always comes back strong. I, for one, don't want to slip into the abyss Miami, Kent, Akron, EMU seem to have fallen into. They all seem to be in the rest home.

Success at this level is fleeting. Years like 2015, 2013 and 2003 need to be cherished because they happen so infrequently. I don't think BG will ever slip into the bottom of the barrel of FBS programs because the tradition here is rich and coaches know they can win here to move on to the next level...it'll just never be consistent. Couple that with the obvious budget issues within athletics itself and nothing is positioned here for long-term success.zete wrote:With so much turnover " you're under the third coach in four seasons. I try not to be too critical of players and coaches on here because prospective recruits or current personnel could end up reading it and having an impact on what they decide to do with their future. I'll certainly be more than happy to hedge my bet on Jinks, but through eight games this season I'm extremely skeptical that he will be able to coach well enough during in-game situations to win consistently.

Urban Meyer said it at the start of this season: We have great winning tradition here. Year in and year out, this is one of the best football programs in the conference. The Falcons won't be down for long. They rarely are.

4 DCs in 4 years. 4 different schemes, 4 different philosophies, 4 different recruiting pitches, 4 different teaching methods. As opposed to Clawson's tenure where we had one HC, one OC, one DC, one ST for five years. It would be asking a ton for the defense to be good this year. I'd rather they be more cohesive but I understand why they are not.

My thoughts pretty much line up with 51...footballguy51 wrote:I have a hunch this will be a Clawson rebuild. Babers Sucked a lot out of this program and didn't put much into it. 2-10 is best case scenario. Won't beat Akron or Kent, Buffalo is a toss up. May end up the worst team in college football this season.

I don't know, but that team in 1919 wasn't very good!

Worst team in BG history? No. Worst team in the modern era of BG football? Depending on how you define "modern"... probably.
Re: Is this the worst team in BG history?
Our receivers during the second quarter of the NIU game looked to be the worst in the country and BG history.

Re: Is this the worst team in BG history?
It is frustrating. There are several good pieces of a team out there. We have our QB, we have some talent at receiver, the running backs come to play every week, the offensive line is playing as well as they can given the injuries. I would say this offense is far from the worst in the last couple decades. But this defense just cannot stop anybody. Even the 2006 and 2010 defenses had some games where they played decent football and kept those feeble offenses in games.
I don't know if it can be pinned on changing DC ever year, lack of talent, lack of size, lack of depth, poor coordination, poor coaching, bad conditioning, or what. Whatever the issue is, fixing the defense has to be the top priority going into next year.

Morgan presents an attractive arm and it will be an asset when recruiting *** wide outs to come and play with him. That, coupled with a strong O line and we will be going places...
Defensively we need to get quicker up front and then some.
