The 800x increase is a fantasy given the associated costs...the word "profit" is a bigger fantasy given the costs associated with D1 football vs the revenue we generate
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

And that 800x gets instantly flushed down the toilet when you hire a coach that isn't qualified, he hires coaches that aren't qualified, and the AD runs away and leaves you with bad contracts.

Speaking of money, can anyone guess where the Frack money is being spent? I know wrong forum but wasn't that designed to help get real teams on the schedule?

Said it the day it was announced that it would all go to football.

Well, not really. IT has to go to basketball, but it just means they cut the funding basketball USED to get to counteract the Frack money.

Excatly what BGSU typically does.

We keep hearing that the weeknight crap games are good for exposure. The games, when they ARE on actual TV stations, draw ratings worse than a Friends marathon. The only people watching on ESPN3 are people like us who are just glad we can actually watch them.

The only good thing about that ESPN contract is that we signed it for a really long term right before ESPN started going bankrupt. The schools better not get too used to that revenue, because if they're too stupid to see it I'll let them in on a little secret: That money is going away. It's not a good deal for us anyhow since we screw over anybody who may actually want to ATTEND a game, but it is still money. And that money will be long gone when it comes time to re-negotiate.

Bingo. So making sure you hire a competent football coach should kind of matter. As is also typical BG, nobody is held accountable until after they have a better offer.

What? You don't like MAC-tion?! One of the ESPN tools made a point of saying that Coach Jinks loves MAC-tion because when BG went on its small winning streak at the end of last season, it got BG good exposure and helped with recruiting. I imagine that might have some truth to it. And let's not forget the REAL reason they played on Halloween and not on Saturday: M-O-N-E-Y.
