Pelini is staying!

Yes! Yes! Yes!

I like what I saw from Carl and thought he did a great job in a bad situation. I felt like he really wanted to be here, so I'm glad he is staying as the Defensive Coordinator. I don't think there will be any friction between him and Coach Loeffler.

I also think this looks like an incredible staff so far. Glad to see our new coach isn't messing around. And we plucked one each from Ohio State and Michigan. I don't know a ton about football and it's coaching game, but that seems very impressive.

Well now. Interesting to see these decisions on coaches Pelini and Doege. The decisions make sense to me.

Seth is out... but I'm hoping we can hang onto Doege. I feel like another year in this program will do him good.

Either way, we do have some talent at the position. Bryce Veasley, Grant Loy, and incoming Logan Holgorsen all seem to have interesting skillsets.

He's the clear starter. That's a great reason to stay. If not, next man up.

Right, absolutely. I believe as a starter, he will likely stick around.

I wouldn't figure he would leave to sit out and "waste" a year with transferring, but there have been more surprising things that have happened, so I don't rule it out.

My hope is that the experience of the staff will reduce the number of guys who will consider transferring. You have coaches who have won Super Bowls and national championships after playing for a group of guys who were cutting their teeth. As an offensive player, I'd be excited. Keeping Pelini should keep the defense intact and hopefully eliminate the exodus you saw last season.

While I do believe keeping Pelini could fracture the team, I think it's worth the risk because we are already terrible.

Brady Hoke fired from the Carolina Panthers. I'm not fond of the man, but I wonder if he could be our next D-line coach. He was with Loeffler at Michigan for a few years between 1996-2002...

I would guess he could get Power 5 DL opportunity or even apply at Akron

Minimal risk...Loeffler isn't stupid. If Pelini wasn't 100% on board as the DC and only the DC, e wouldn't be staying.

I would be OK with Jimmy Williams sticking as DL coach along with Gomes and Hicks in the secondary. Pelini is comfortable with them. If Loeffler doesn't have anyone in mind (Hoke would be fun), why not keep them...

Need some sort of continuity on the defensive side of the ball. I don't think there will be any fractures among the group, Carl knew his job was to bridge the program from Jinks to Loeffler and the fact he's staying speaks to his character and how much he adores BGSU. It's a smart move.

I'd be very surprised of Holgorsen ended up coming here with the coaching changes. With Spatival heading to Texas State, my eyes are on that being his new destination. This definitely won't be the offensive system he was committing to.

That said, I'm very impressed with this new staff and can't wait to see the rest of it filled out. I could see these guys really being able to sell a first class coaching staff to recruits starting immediately.
