Akron
Re: Akron
Another quick figure on Akron's (lack of) offense. In conference play they have scored a total of 3 TDs. All three through the air, all against CMU. They have played 4 conference games.
Please please please defense play well and don't buck Akron's trend.

Huh. I would have said 1982.MarkL wrote:*: the worst MAC in history was in 2017 so all divisional records come with an asterisk.
Speaking of MAC history: Thinking about this game reminds me a bit of the 1994 Ohio-Akron game. Both teams were 0-10 headed into that game, which Akron won. Both coaches were fired afterward.
Bowling Green is in better shape than either of those schools were that day, but this still might be the worst Division I team we've ever had here.
Even so: I think Bowling Green wins tomorrow.
I hope we see some players redshirted for next season.
Re: Akron
Only halfway through the first quarter and Akron has already doubled its entire total of points scored last month against BG already. Akron leads 6-0 and so far looks far superior than BG does. It’s still very early, but we’re getting totally outplayed right now.
GO BG!!!

Re: Akron
Not a good start. Akron up 6-0.
I think I heard Clair's name on the radio broadcast. I didn't expect him to play.

Re: Akron
Bowling Green rolling now. Falcons lead 21-6. This is more like it.
Re: Akron
From what I caught and have tracked, the defense is playing awesome with sacks and interceptions. Offense, not so much as two of the three TDs were thanks to short fields.
15 point lead and starting with the ball in the second half against an offense that hasn't scored a TD in over a month. I feel pretty good.

Great looking drive there until the last two plays. 3rd down, lost two on an end around and we rarely do well on those these year. 4th down, dropped TD pass that needs to be caught because it was on the money.
Still, two possession lead and a fifth of the second half gone.

Re: Akron
It's 35-6 now, and Darius Wade in there. I'm glad they did that. Nice move.
Re: Akron
I'll take a 35-6 win any day. I don't even really care how ugly it may have been.
We beat Toledo, we matched last season's win total even though it's a rebuilding year. I'd have to call this a successful season given the circumstances. We're 3-6 with 3 to play. If someone had told you that after the Kent State game, would you have believed them?

Re: Akron
Solid win and did about the same to Akron as any other MAC team. It says our team doesn't play down to the competition. Held them to around 30 rush yards after sacks, under 50% completions, no TDs, and the first FG was enabled by an unnecessary penalty.
