An entirely new team is in place trying to rebuild this program. Reading these posts is like watching someone criticize firefighters when they are trying to put out a house fire.

It's not remotely close to a new team. Moose didn't have the courage to do that, or listen to the search firm.

You seem to have an unhealthy obsession with a holdover middle manager named Kit or someone. It's weird. You should stop.

The staff is new. Many have been out of college football since the glory days of Eastern Michigan of the early 2010’s. Eastern Michigan the program Bowling Green is beginning to look like. They know what 130 out of 130 looks like.

Moosbrugger was hired in May 2016….5 years
Uninformed bad take.

He picked Ohio to win the East and Western Michigan Toledo and Ball Sate to all tie for first in the West, but he has listed at the top WMU to play Ohio for the MAC title.

Bob Moosbrugger is new in the sense that he was hired months after Mike Jinks was signed to a five-year contract. Moose didn't hire Jinks. He got stuck with him, and it became his job to clean up the mess.TommyG wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 11:09 pmSchadenfreude wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 5:37 pmMoose is new. Moose acted decisively in firing Jinks just two-and-a-half years into that five-year contract.
Moose is part of the clean up team. He didn't cause this mess in the football program.

I read once that the endorphin rush felt by the degenerate gambler is flipped; where they are stimulated subconsciously more by the loss rather than the win. I suppose it runs the same with a few “contributors” here. Who doesn’t love to spend time with the person that bitches about everything, sends their food back at the restaurant, critiques every play call that didn’t work, yet…..can’t do or solve anything on their own?
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.
Re: Phil Steele picks BG dead last in the country for 2021
I think there are some serious timeline confusions and general misinformation here. Let me lay all of this out.
December 2015: Dino Babers wins the MAC championship and promptly leaves for Syracuse. In a matter of days, AD Chris Kingston hires Mike Jinks and introduces the RB coach from Texas Tech at a press conference in Bowling Green to a generally skeptical fanbase.
March 2016: Chris Kingston goes onto a podcast with Turnkey, a talent management company. He brags about the process that led to Mike Jinks.
- Kingston felt he would probably be replacing Babers at end of year middle of the season
- He really wanted to get a Texas Tech assistant
- He found a video of Mike Jinks mic'd and was impressed
- In his interview with Jinks, Kingston referred to Jinks as "the target of the search". Not as a candidate or a target. The target
- Kingston offered Jinks the job and gave him the same contract as Babers
- He made no mentions of his assistants and their roles in the process. This was Kingston's interview.
- Kingston was not just owning the process. He was bragging about the process. On a talent management company's podcast.
April 2016: Kingston leaves BG for Learfield Sports. Conveniently one week after a spring game to mixed reviews and one month after his interview with a talent management company.
May 2016: Bob Moosbrugger is hired as the new AD. He inherits a football coach he did not hire, a contract he did not sign, and expectations he did not set.
And the rest is history.
Point is, Jinks was Kingston's hire. Not the current AD, associate AD, anyone else's. Kingston bragged about the hire to a talent management firm and then left. Moosbrugger allowed Jinks 2.5 years and then made the change.

This forum is simply insufferable now. If not for a few posters, I'd be out of here. This place needs moderation more than ever and it's nowhere to be found. I can only imagine what Grant would say to himself if he would pop back in.

Completely AGREE! It has become nearly worthless with complaints and very little information

Does a link exist to that podcast? I remember hearing about it years ago. I'd love to listen.
Re: Phil Steele picks BG dead last in the country for 2021
The podcast link is down so I presume it is offline. It was a good listen. At first it was rather reassuring that there was a methodology to taking such a gamble on the RB coach from a niche program that passes all the time, to replace a championship head coach. But then with a healthy amount of skepticism I saw an AD fixated on a gut instinct who would not let the blatant problems get in the way of his first pick. Back when I too was a more optimistic and generally reassuring fella rather than the jaded grumpy old guy I am now.

Re: Phil Steele picks BG dead last in the country for 2021
Most times when a coach is only given 2.5 years to produce there is backlash. There was no notable backlash on this firing because nearly all stakeholders agreed. Terrible situation for any new AD to inherit.
Thank you being a voice of facts MarkL
