"We ran out of gas, plain and simple" Umm, isn't that the coach's job to fill the tank? The QB got hit....and he's our only option? The OL and the DL didn't play very well. Yep. How many recruits did we have? How are we giving scholarships to players that don't play or have enough talent to play in the MAC?

On paper, we were only 4-12 in 3rd down and 0-2 in 4th down plays. However, the "razzle-dazzle" idiot plays prior to these set up the poor results. Yeah, I know, we had a punter that was an adventure..probably because BG is a wind tunnel, but having 3 INT's, and shortening the field for their offense isn't a pattern for winning games.

Anyway, playing for the toilet brush in the toilet bowl '22 is just the "icing" on the cake. I'm sure it will come on a day when I have other things to do.
Whatever happened to Viva Las Vegas?

Relax…Jesus around these parts aka Dave Clawson said that after 2 million dollars and 4 years, you should now be able to compete in the mighty Mid American Conference East Division. And despite a statistical anomaly in which BGSU finished with -55 point differential in conference and a historic run of back up quarterbacks faced, 6-6 is 6-6. Time to give the 13-29 coach a raise and a new contract because this is BGSU. Coaches only leave here one of two ways. They leave for a better job to resentment from the fan base, or they get enough time to burn it all the way to the ground and waste a decade the way Kit Hughes did at the administrative level. Bowling Green will begin paying two athletic directors shortly thanks in large part to Kit Hughes.

Would SL's ego allow him to come back without an extension? Knowing that next year is going to likely be a step or two back in the W/L column would he do the extend me or quit gambit? And then try to get another gig in the League or the P5. Not as a HC...but just about ay random assistant gig will net him what he gets here and he can point to a steady improvement in the W/L record as a selling point

I'd be shocked if he has any options better than this without an extension. Addazzio has been fired twice since and is like a position coach at the disaster that is Texas A&M, and many the previous staffs before him are almost out of football. If Bowling Green gives the extension to the coach Con Man and Moosbrugger hired, they might as well have kept Moosbrugger. It's keeping the standards at the bottom of the barrel, that those two created, to self protect themselves.

The buyout goes both directions.

good point...have to assume it can be negotiated downward if need be to get everyone where they want to be, SL had a pulmonary embolism this year... I wonder if his health could be a factor in any decisions being contemplated on either side

They're obviously going to sit down and talk about all aspects and scenarios. If there's no extension, I could see a gentleman's agreement being made to waive/reduce the buyout up until a certain date. He's not going to be "stolen" away, which is the purpose of him having to pay a buyout. He also hasn't (publicly) warranted getting bought out.
