Also, on a more serious note, as long as we play Toledo every year, while everyone else plays them in a rotation, we are at a competitive disadvantage.
All of this is why I am mad about it. With the way we play on the road and the way we play at home, next year was shaping up to be a great one. Now we might have both Kent and Miami on the road. Keep in mind Kent played pretty well over the 2nd half of the season.

Having Toledo on the schedule every season does make it more tough but quite frankly I would rather face UT every year if it means we have to face the directionals that much less. Those Mich teams are not too apealing anymore.

I think it's crap how we get thrown back and forth from East to West then back to East. BG is one of the better teams in the MAC and I feel the MAC should throw lower programs around to accomadate changes in the league from year to year. I think now is the time for BG to be one of (if not the first) teams to win the West, East, and the MACC.

This is an honest question...Where in the hell did BG get the rep of not having any trees??? I heard this when I was at BG, so thechuck's posting is not totally out of left field. There are trees all over. :?:

Hmmm....the Redhawks have beaten us 6 straight and lead the all time series with us 38-18 with a number of ties. :(

Living in NE Ohio, Short road trips to Kent and Akron and the longest division road trip is Miami.

I love being back in the East!

This sucks. As a relatively new fan of BG, I have seen ABSOLUTELY NOTHING attractive about ANY of the teams in the East with the exception on Miami. Being from Chicago, I liked the opportunity to see the team at Northern, or Western Michigan. But who cares. Bring on those high-powered matchups with Akron, Kent, and Buffalo.

As opposed to the High powered matchups with EMU, CMU, WMU and Ball State? Kent is getting better and what about Akron? Had they beaten Miami at the Rubber Bowl last season, the Zips would have played for the MAC title.

As a LONG time BG and MAC fan, I'd much rather see BG back in the East where it belongs. We have so much more in common with the traditional rivals in the East than the teams in the West, with the exception of Toledo.

Just when I thought a rising Akron would be our only hurdle. Well, welcome back guys! Only room for one at the top, should be interesting. I guess, I'll try hating your guts, but let's face it, you're no Marshall.

I think this is crap!!! Our players and coaches shouldn't have to worry about what side we are going to be on next year! And our home games were going to be awesome this year, now what can we get a home with U Buff and Akron, without Fry!!??? I liked being in the east... the first time, but right when you are getting used to playing the teams in the west they change it up on you, this is crap and might be the reason we don't go to the MACC game this year i am not happy!!!

easy BACN3.. we will go to the MACC.. don't talk like that.
As for switching.. I think we should play Toledo every year.. there's something to be said for rivalry games...
BUT... I was beginning to enjoy the rivalry building between Northern Illinois and us.. too bad that won't be any every year thing anymore.. at least until they switch us back to the West again...

What the heck is all this "poor Home games" crap? Look at last season...home games with EMU (10,700), Ball State (16,990 on HOMECOMING) and WMU (18,000 on a BEAUTIFUL day). Not exactly packing the Doyt now is it?

And this is more than just about football....it is ALL sports. Yes the rivalry was getting good with NIU, but it was only 3 years old. Sheeet, BG has played Miami, OU and Kent for over 50 years. This could help us get that breakthru in NE Ohio in radio and/or TV.

Let's face it...each division has its advantages. I, for one, am glad we won't have to hit the road vs NIU AND UT every other year. And personally, I don't think the coaches and players care what division they're in...just buckle the chinstrap and get after it!

207 days til kickoff....

I don't even agree that the rivalry with NIU was becoming all that good. It seemed to be a good rivalry on paper but when the actual game was played it was a one sided home victory.

I would much rather play Kent, OU, Akron, and Buff, than play EMU, WMU, CMU and BSU. Heck I think the lower teams from the east are better than the lower teams from the west right now anyway. Plus they are closer games for most people.

With 12 teams in the league, we'll be playing 3 teams from the from so we still might have Toledo and NIU at home. I would hope they move the Toledo to earlier in the season. It doesn't make a great deal of sense to have a crossover game a week before the MAC championship.

Let's take a look at this a little more logically.

The bad:
*Toledo being our primary rival is now in a different division
*Growing rivalry with NIU with unknown potential.
*Getting Miami........EVERY YEAR.
*Playing UT in the middle of the season instead of at the end.
*Missing playing WMU and CMU. It's only a matter of time before they right their ship.

The good:
*The possibility of facing Toledo in the MACC
*UA, Kent, and OU are teams on the rise with recent coaching changes and recruiting classes. Unknown potential
*Playing Miami.....EVERY YEAR (They are more our rival in my eyes because we play them in more sports)
*BG playing in the Cleveland market may get more alumni to away games (Kent and UA). That experience may drive them to visit BG for more games. More butts in seats, more money coming into the school (I'm being hypothetical, but work with me.)
*Playing in Cleveland may also get some folks to get turned on to MAC play instead of Pig Televen ball.

I like the move to the East. At first I was luke warm to the possibility but with the East landscape altered since the last I pondered the move.
