NCAA 06
When your player is in the zone, if you make a big play the camera will do some Matrix stlye zooming and stuff. For instance, I did a stiff arm on a turdledo player with Omar when he was in the zone. The game freezes and the camera does a zoom in, rotate, close-up, freeze frame at the key momment Omar performed the stiff arm.

i played my roommates copy a few times today, and the deep ball is there ALL DAY with BG. omar to sharon is unstoppable as both are impact players. also, partridge is really good in the game as well. i made some big plays with lett and sanders, but nowhere near what i did with sharon.
however, the first game i played as BG, i noticed the line cannot withstand a blitz and if omar gets hurt (as he did in my first game), turner is awful under pressure (and left handed, WTF?).
overall, a pretty good game, however i'm still not convinced i'll buy it. i'm waiting on madden and will just upload my roomie's NCAA rosters for my drafts.

I forgot to mention that!! The opposing team ran an inside blitz on me and I had absolutely ZERO time to throw the ball. Any other time the line can block great though!BGFalcons232 wrote:however, the first game i played as BG, i noticed the line cannot withstand a blitz

yeah, i was BG and omar got hurt... so of course, my opponent blitzed the hell out of the unexperienced turner and really rattled him. unforturnately, he started with the inside blitz and never changed from it. i was screwed from there on out...Metz wrote:I forgot to mention that!! I can't wax poetic about the game as I didn't have much time to play last night. For the most part, though, I'm totally underwhelmed so far.
First and foremost - what happened to the marching band fight songs? I know I'm an "older timer" (as Schade puts it), but those fight songs are part of the pageantry that is college football. I'm all for the Pietasters, but I think that really takes away from the game. A lot. A whole lot.
The Race for the Heisman is a bit of a disappointment. I'm sure the boys at EA Sports will develop it, but it's not that great right now.
The studio segments are weak. Why shift the focus from the players (2005) to the announcers? Graphics were suprisingly weak here, too.
Anyway, I'll still play the game until my thumbs ache, but it wasn't as awesome as I was hoping.

I haven't had a chance to play with it yet, but supposedly you can change it back to the fight songs if you wantDayons_Den wrote:I can't stand the music they play when you are out of the game mode.
I didn't think they could find anything more annoying than the fight songs over and over and over..... but they did.
By the time I finally got to pop it in last night it was 11:30. I put it in and I was mesmerized by the old video clips. I'm a college football junkie, not just BG, so it was fun to watch clips of some of the greats. Although that Charles Woodson PR for TD in the '97 OSU game was still upsetting. Seeing Barry, Bo, Peyton, Archie, etc, was pretty sweet though
When I finally got over watching the old clips I didn't feel like playing an entire game, since I had work in the morning, so I just hit the play now thing and went BG-vs-UT. The problem with that is, of course, that they have the default difficulty on an easier mode than I'd normally play on. I quit at halftime up 42-0. Omar to Sharon was good for I think 4 TDs. Partridge had a TD and 100 yds receiving as well. PJ had a good game averaging about 20 ypc, and also having about 75 yards receiving.
I like the graphics on this version, and I like that the game seems to move faster than last year's. I LOVE the fact that you don't have to put the passing windows down to use turbo, but the new control DEFINITELY takes some getting used to. For the first time in like 10 years they changed the buttons used for switching players/turbo. What I DON'T like about the new control scheme is like Metz said the juke move is not on the shoulder buttons. I haven't played with the control layout, is there any possibility of mapping just those buttons?
I've got softball tonight, but tomorrow I'm definitely looking forward to spending some time with the game.

If you look close during the end of Anthony Davis' run for Wisconsin on those old hi-lights you can see current Bowling Green Grad. Assistant and former Badger Russ Kuhns congratulating Davis (FB #41).hammb wrote:By the time I finally got to pop it in last night it was 11:30. In the settings, just got to the Audio menu and change it from EA Trax to Fight Songs. I favor the music I know how to play I guess so I did that right away1987alum wrote:First and foremost - what happened to the marching band fight songs? Dayons, I think you can turn it off in there, too, since you think it's all annoying!
I couldn't find a way to change individual buttons, but you can change the "default" settings to NCAA 05 which makes ALL the controls the same as last year. I need my juke buttons up top because I do those while holding speed burst and putting them in the joystick prevents that.hammb wrote:What I DON'T like about the new control scheme is like Metz said the juke move is not on the shoulder buttons. I wasn't going to buy the game, till GameStop gave me Madden for free.
I'm with Metz, the controls take a good solid 2 games to really get the hang of it. I'm not a fan of the right analog being the "freestyle" button, but that stop juke is just sick.
Overall, the game is solid to good. If I were to grade it, either B+ or A-.
Ups:
Omar to Chuck-MONEY
I digress, soundtrack isn't bad, very college radio sound.
In-Season Recruiting is very solid and actually adds a lot to Franchise mode.
Downs:
No Freddie nor A-Z-Z.
Doyt is still wrong.
Race for the Heisman was disappointing, but we'll see how it works with Madden.
Controls are tough to pick up at first due to YEARS of the same lay out.
Pick up the game if you thought 05 was decent, because it's much better than that. But, I'm not sure if it can hang with 04.

i like it overall, i keep pushing the wrong damn buttons, but im sure i can break that, the juke change came easy for me, but the switching to reciever and sprinting for the ball i mess up a lot, im also used to pulling down my icons, which now results in intentional grounding... the race for the Heisman thing seems dumb, why didnt they just spend a lot more time making the "normal" game even more in-depth and better, yea they didnt fix the doyt, but they got our jerseys spot on and they also got our grass, endzone paint, 20yard line paint, mid field logo, and helmet logo all fixed and im pumped about that. they have Omar as the 2nd best QB in the nation thats frickin sweet, he's the reason i beat Wisc 34-21!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!
