Agreed in principle, but in this case every little bit will help. An additional buck for a specific purpose won't have people batting an eye.

I didn't read the article.
I agree that they are certainly going after some B!G dollar donations, but exactly how much "effort" does highlighting the campaign on a website or in other small ways take? Plus, I doubt they would turn down $75.
-Sebo Center: Drawings are done. Doing last minte review of these and budget. Bids go out within the week. Construction to begin early this fall.
-AA: Feasibility study has been contracted. An architectual firm will do the study with two specific purposes. First, cost to renovate AA, including a specific number of seats and other amenities, as well as the pros and cons to renovating the building. Second, identify a location and what would be included in a new building. Study will take six to nine months. When done, it will be an either/or decision.
-Locker room between the baseball and softball fields: I got this one right the first time.
-Track: Funds have been made available for a complete overhaul of Whitaker track, including putting down a new base and new surface.
-A locker room for womens track has been completed at the Southeast end of Perry Stadium.
-Discussions have started about possible change in location and replacement of the surface at Keefe tennis courts.
-The Ice Arena and Golf Course are not managed by Athletics, but are part of Student Affairs. Krebs said a study will start soon on the Ice Arena.

To top that statement, how many here have been personally contacted here to make a contribution? I'm sorry but what I've seen in the "Public Phase" of this campaign has been pretty weak. I just hope to god it gets done because BG needs this bad.
It's on the front page of the athletics website. I honestly don't think anyone can complain about the project still being lacking in funds if they haven't donated money themselves.

My point is if no one reads bgusfalcons or doesn't know about AZZ, and lives outside of BG, then they probably don't know about this project. Whereas when they were building the Student Union, a mailing was sent out to past Alums and phone calls were made, nothing to that extent has been done with the Sebo Center.

They may have sent mailings to those Varisty BG members. As a non-athlete, I think they should be the ones to donate money to that cause. I will continue to donate to the College of Education and Human Development among the many areas of the university I support.

This is correct. I believe that these efforts are targeted at the people most likely to give to that specific cause.
So, based on your past giving patterns, you may or may not be contacted for a specific project. For example, I donated to refurbish the Gish Theater back in the '80s. That would make me more likely to get mailings regarding art projects. My Falcon Club membership gets me requests for athletic donations.
Also, depending on the project, someone's giving level and pattern indicates how they will be approached. They can't continue to go after the same people all the time.
So, a project can have a very public phase, but the 'general public' may not feel that it is.
