I recall that as well.UK Peregrine wrote:I kind of recall that he tested negaitve for steriods and the other drugs back in June when this story broke. He was supposedly a dealer and not a user. If that is in fact the case, then in all likelihood he is legitmate in terms of athletic prowess.BelieveNBG wrote:Did you also catch the part about steroids being found? It will be interesting to see what kind of athlete he really is or did steroids have something to do with his on the field success???

I'm glad we apparently know this to be true.UK Peregrine wrote:I kind of recall that he tested negaitve for steriods and the other drugs back in June when this story broke.BelieveNBG wrote:Did you also catch the part about steroids being found? When the news first came out, I was far more bothered by the fact that he even possessed steroids than I was about the fact that he was (apparently) dealing illegal stuff.
If he apparently never used 'oids -- that's great. Makes a big difference for me.

It depends...oral steroids can blow out of your system pretty quickly. Injectables can take months to fully break down and leave. There's always masking agents and "clean urine" scams to consider.
I'm in no way saying Nick Lawrence did any of those things. I'm merely pointing out the anecdotal observation that steroid dealers are usually users themselves.

Sounds like our suspicions will be coming to fruition. Also, correct if I'm wrong here, but don't grayshirts actually delay enrollment in college that way they do not burn eligibilty? If so, then Nick would likely delay his enrollment at BG until the spring, or take a part-time class load in the fall. Plus, Nick would still be eligible for a redshirt the following year, if he does indeed earn his scholarship back.duckunder53 wrote:According to the man that runs a Michigan based High School message board, he had this to say about Nick Lawrence.
He is still going to BGSU. Going to greyshirt this season and hopefully earn the scholarship back.
Grayshirts enroll in classes, pay their own way, but are not actually a part of the team. I don't think it effects their eligibility because they're not practicing or playing with the team...I could be wrong though.UK Peregrine wrote:Sounds like our suspicions will be coming to fruition. But wouldn't the clock only start ticking if a grant-in-aid is actually being used?factman wrote:It still effects the five years to play four, as "your" clock starts when you start classes, and have five years to complete your elgibility, whether you are playing or not. At least those were the rules a year or two ago.
Seems to me a kid could go to BGSU on the 10-year plan, pay his way for the first three years and never even see the football field, but still have four years of eligiblility.
Am I wrong?
