while i don't think that there'll be an exclusive bgsu station, i don't think that there's much of a financial investment involved in setting up a satellite radio station,. that's why there are so many niche stations, especially in terms of talk radio, on sirius and xm. there isn't nearly the overhead involved with running and transmitting terrestrial radio.
sirius, i think, may be the big winner in numbers of subscriptions in the long run. it has some big name DJs, too, including cousin brucie, kid leo (formerly of wmms fame), and, beginning in january, howard stern, who has already been a big draw for them. and he's not on the air for almost five more months.

I'm not talking about satellite.

I wish I could say more, but we should know something in a couple of weeks, I think.

Big John Gibson is doing game analysis. That is cool! Has he always done it? Anyways, I loved watching the Big John and Joe Alls tandem at running back. They were a big part of turning BG's fortunes around.

Gibby has been the color man for at least the last two years, or ever since WKNR in Cleveland picked up BG games.

Here's a link that show's the coverage of 1580. A pretty good daytime signal.

My only "complaint" is that KNR does NOT broadcast BG games (at least not last year)....they "farmed it out" to 1220 in Cleveland, which is still OK as I like to be able to listen to games I can't get to...but they (KNR) are "locked into" the team from Columbus first.... if there's ANY kind of conflict, it's on 1220 instead...

I don't expect BG to get better coverage than OSU. As long as BG has the 2nd best coverage and is in all of the major markets, I am happy. By the way, I don't include Cincinnati as it really isn't part of Ohio.

I live in Columbus and this is good news for all BG fans here. The new station, 1580 has carried the Miami Redhawk football games the past few years so I don't know if they will do both BG and Miami games and if so which will take precedent if a scheduling conflict occurs. Even if they do just having some games on a station I can get is HUGE

Bingo. This was the "potential good news."

The story I was told was pretty funny.

I guess someone from Bowling Green ran into Steve Baker, who does play-by-play for Miami, at the MAC media days.

Baker mentioned that Miami games would no longer on WVKO. Clear Channel and BGSU got to work and struck a deal with WVKO within a couple of weeks.

I checked into that the first season that Clear Channel started handling Bowling Green's network. The answer: No.

WBGU-FM offers its own feed of the game online for free, but they are students. The work can be uneven.

Another option: Plunk down $6 or so a month for rights to all broadcast feeds of BGSU sports. Details are at www.bgsufalcons.com.

I think it's worth the money, especially during football season.

I think its great in a few ways. Miami lost a station. BGSU gained a station. BGSU gained a station in Columbus. OSU fans hate anything that encroaches on their turf.

Nice avatar, Nathan.

Good news for Columbus! Wow...ELEVEN stations for the network. Yeah it sux sometimes here in NE Ohio not having BG on WKNR but at least 1220 AM carries the games when the mighty Blackeyes are on at the same time.

Another chance to tap into a major market and grab the alumni base.

BG Football on the air in the middle of Blackeye country.

This is really getting good.
