Boise 45
BG 42
I think Boise wins this one simply because they come in 0-2 and they're playing at home.
I don't really care if we win this game or the next for that matter. We have 2 more games and 4 weeks of practice prior to the real season kicking back up to get better. We have plenty of areas to improve upon and I think we have the ability to improve in all of them. I hope we can get through this one with no more injuries.

Unbelievable. As per my private conversations with several of you, the fans on this board absolutely blow me away.
You would think that with the completely negative attitude that some have around here that we had won the conference 10 years in a row. We haven't and the bottom line is sh*t don't come easy in this life.
Here is a pretty concrete definition of being a fan (especially of college teams): being there to support and believe in your team no matter what. Those of you who don't think it is possible for this team to improve even a lick over the course of this season certainly do not fit this definition, and I really think you need to be asking yourselves why you are even here.
The bottom line is, not one of us around here has any real impact on what takes place between the lines. We are fans. Nothing more, nothing less. If you are here (as many of you seem to be) simply to be the first one to say "I told you so!" if and when we lose a game, you needn't waste your time typing anymore because a.) no one cares, and b.) your opinion doesn't affect the outcome of the game - it just pisses real fans off.
Sorry to be so negative here, but some of you really need a reality check. And this is the censored reality check.

3 days from Gameday...I watched some of the Oregon State/Louisville game and the Cardinals dominated OSU. OSU nipped Boise State, 30-27. It is hard to gage just how good Boise State is so far...but on the blue turf, they will be tough as nails.
However, I have a feeling that our defense, yes the defense, will be the star of the game. We won't shut BSU down....no way. But I think our D will do enough to win the game.
BGSU 45, BSU 38. Boise should be whipped up like a hornets nest with their 0-2 start. We must keep our composure. If things start to snowball, it could be ugly for us.
GO FALCONS!!!!!! BUCK THE BRONCOS!

Nothing makes me laugh more than one one person tells another what it means to be a fan, or how they should be a fan...LOLBleeding Orange wrote:Unbelievable. As per my private conversations with several of you, the fans on this board absolutely blow me away.
Being a fan is whatever you want it to be. In my mind a true fan supports his/her team and roots for them no matter what. I have yet to see any signs of the fans on this board, abandoning the team and rooting for someone else.
Personally, I refuse to believe that because I want BG to win I have to be blind to everything they may do wrong. I don't think that anyone is here hoping for BG to lose just so they can say, "I told you so" There just happens to be a certain number of us here that are tired of watching us not win the MAC for the same stupid reasons every year and watching the staff do nothing to improve upon it. Sure, I believe it is possible for this team to improve as the season goes on...very rarely are teams the same in bowl season as they are in opening week. However, I cannot get overly optimistic when special teams & defense have been our weak spots for the last 3 years and they have not improved in that time, if anything they've gotten steadily worse.
Do not tell me or others how to be a fan. I wish I could live my life with the orange colored glasses you do, but I cannot be blind to what I'm watching. I still root for and support my team as loud as anyone, that I can assure you, and I don't need to be blind to our flaws to do that.
As for my prediction in this game? I think Boise scores 50+. Whether that will be enough for us to win I don't know. I imagine we'll score a lot in the first quarter, and possibly take a lead. I think we might have a lead at halftime. At that time Boise's coach will make an adjustment, we'll take the full 3rd quarter to figure it out, and by that time we'll be down by a TD or three. In the 4th we'll try to make our valiant comeback. Hopefully it will be enough, but such is life when you have a less than stellar gameday coach. If I were a betting man I'd take the over and I'd probably take the 8 1/2.

I hope you are totally wrong on this. But judging by our past performances, that scenario has happened too often. We simply cannot overlook that.
And until the staff and team finds a way to do the job in the 3rd, I can see why you'd predict that.
Let this be the game BGSU puts it all together and gets rolling!!

Wasn't trying to tell anyone how to be a fan, hammb, just trying to put everything that was happening around here (a week ago!) into perspective.hammb wrote:Nothing makes me laugh more than one one person tells another what it means to be a fan, or how they should be a fan...LOLBleeding Orange wrote:Unbelievable. As do I freak, as do I. As you said, we've just seen it too often. Boise will be a TOUGH test, they're stellar at home, and they're a wounded dog right now. What's worse is they lost to Oregon State even though they played well...that will likely not sit real well with them.Falconfreak90 wrote: Hammb,

This is a tough place to play. We have a less than stellar record in tough road games. I think we have the horses to pull it out, but our staff really needs to start making some counteradjustments in the 3rd quarter...or even try to predict the changes that the opposition will make so we can change what we're doing before they counter us. The 3rd quarter is often called the coaches' quarter, and our stats are really ugly in that quarter.
Hopefully I'm wrong and the defense can step up and make some plays. We need to start getting a pass rush. It's really painful to think that we're sacrificing size for speed up front, but yet we don't have the speed to generate any sort of pass rush either
The good thing is that as much as I want to win, in the grand scheme this game means very little. I want the MACC and that is still out there for us. It'd be real nice to put a good performance on national TV, though...
Bleeding, sorry to go on a rant on ya, but something about your comments didn't sit well with me...probably the part about pissing off the "real fans". I don't believe for a second that there is anyone posting on this board that is not a "real fan", despite how they may feel about our chances Wednesday night.
My view of being a fan, the negative aspects.
1-I believe a true fan can express negative feelings. He can express disappointment in the performance of individual players, of the team, and of the coaching staff. He can even say that he would like to see a change in coaches.
2-However, when he claims to know more than the players, when he claims to know more than the coaches, when he presumes to give specifics about how the players should play or how the coaches should coach, then in my mind he is no longer speaking as a fan.
Instead, he is asserting that he knows more than the players or the coaches, that he possesses expertise as a player or a coach. Unless he has significant experience at the college level, this is a very questionable assertion and I think it has nothing to do with being a fan.
Now, have I ever done this? I'm sure I have.
By the way, my prediction--BG 56 Boise St 41.
GO BG!!
