Hey, speak for yourself.

I was just down there at Mammoth Cave with my daughter in early August. She was getting quite a kick out of the accents! Not only is it Bowlin' Green down there but the emphasis in on Bowlin' instead of Green. I think she got the biggest kick when one of the naturalists mentioned a program to be held at the outdoor theater in the park. Thats "the" (long e) "a" (long a) and a quick "ter". Fortunately she showed a bit of respect and didn't giggle until he was out of ear shot.
That is a funny tid bit BG Fan. At the GMAC Bowl the announcer seemed to put the emphasis on Bowling as well, "Jacobs pass complete to Sharon. First down, BOWLIN green."
Reminds me of a family trip we took to the south when I was about 11 or 12. Most of our family vacations are centered around sports and on this trip to Florida we stopped at some minor league ball parks on our way south- Durham, NC, Burlington, NC, Knoxville, TN, Kinston, NC, and Bluefield WV.
At the time I was in to collecting lapel pins (dont' ask me why). So I can remember going to a merch stand and asking if they had any Pins. And the lady replied "You mean peans you write with?" It was quite a go around tryign to get her to realize I was looking for Pins not Pens.
