I STILL hate Falcon Football...
Brandon is not going to resign or get fired in the middle of the season. The focus needs to be how we can salvage the season with the team and staff that we have now. For example, is an open call for an extra point kicker out of the question? Next, can the coaching staff work on getting some intensity on the defensive side? Remember how Meyer took Blackney's players and turned them in to winners? The coaches need to lead this team just where it wants to go. I would have a meeting with the coaching staff and the captains and tell all that the attitude on the team from now on is intensity and drive. I would have the coaches screaming at the players, I would have the captains calling other players out. I would get guys pissed off. I would have full contact practices. I would bench guys that do not hustle. Like I said before - I have watched the Bengals for years and can tell you that a vocal, hardass coach like Forrest Gregg or Marvin Lewis is much more effective than a soft spoken guy like Dave Shula or Dick LeBeau. We need this staff to adopt a Bobby Knight/Bill Cowher attitude were they break the colts down then build them back up as a meaner, tougher team.

I say we bring Lou Holtz out of retirement!
Remember the episode of the Simpsons where the guy sold a monorail to Springfield and skipped town with the town's money? That episode pretty much sums up the coaching career of Lou Holtz:
I hear those things are awfully loud...
It glides as softly as a cloud.
Is there a chance the track could break?
Not on your life, my Hindu friend.
What about us brain-dead slobs?
You'll all be given cushy jobs.
Were you sent here by the devil?
No, good sir, I'm on the level.
The ring came off my pudding can.
Take my pen knife, my good man.
I swear it's Springfield's only choice...
Throw up your hands and raise your voice!
Monorail!
I'm pretty sure you're right to. I didn't make the correction, because I figured he had copy & pasted that from somewhere more knowledgeable than me. Bend would actually fit the rhyme scheme, though.Flipper wrote:Hate to nit-pick, but I'm almost positive it's "Is there a chance the track could bend?"
That is what I get for copying and pasting without editing! I blame Coach Brandon and poor execution for not having me mentally ready to post this morning.hammb wrote:I'm pretty sure you're right to. Besides having an extra letter in his name and a passing resemblence to Dan Aykroyd, Gregg Brandon has a record of something like 21-8. He has won a bowl game in each of the last two years. His players aren't getting arrested. If and when he leaves the hallowed of turf of Doyt L. Perry field, it will be when he wants to and under his terms.
A school such as BG can't fire a coach because the special teams play like their on Nyquil and the defense can't stop the run.
Go Falcons!!

The fact is the team is made up of men. Men step up and motivate themselves and don't rely on the coaches to "get them up for the game". That said, motivation wasn't the only issue. Decision making was questionable on the sidelines from time to time. However, since the defensive secondary looked good and Wisc. ran over our line and Boise ran over our line, what are the defensive coaches going to do to stop the run? That may be the key to the remainder of the year.
