Obviously, you are out of your mind. Maybe you had a brain freeze in the colder weather. Yeah- that's it. I was on the west side and I saw a lot of people cheering and enjoying themselves.BGSUVA wrote:yea...I thought the Ohio fans were louder than BG, and that was kinda sad since there werent many
And, as for "attracting" students to the game.......how about the #1 team in the MAC East with Omar Jacobs, Chuck Sharon, and Steve Sanders for starters. If you like football, how can you not be there???? With everyone you know???
It was a great victory, a great tent time and an opportunity to see where we need to improve.....the unspecial teams.

that is why i think there should be a greater student response every week, because we do have all of those things.....im not complaining im just attempting to see if we could improve something even further....if no one did that everything would suck....never be satisfiedalways a falcon wrote:Obviously, you are out of your mind. This team *should* be selling out every week -- especially with the reduced capacity. I still don't understand why the community for the most part won't get behind this team. Oh well. Hoepfully we'll keep improving in that department. The last thing I want to do is start another attendance thread.

falcon boy, I honestly don't know why you post here. Every post I read you are degrading our team, saying something negative about them. There is PLENTY of good things to say about our team instead of bad things. You always b(&*&^ about one thing or another, and frankly I am tired of it. Yes, some things could prove to be improved, yes more people could show up, but for petes sake, be happy that your team won, and there were students at all. hell fans at all. From reading your posts I would assume that you think we were the worst team in the MAC. It was Fall Break, a lot of studentdts went home, big deal. This is the first time freshmen were without to be without their families, how can you blame them for wanting to be with them for the first chance in a month or so? So I suggest to you either staqrt SUPPORITING THE TEAM, or stop positing in general. I realize this may be extreme, and may get me banned, but whatever, I am tired of falconboys comments, and literal degrative comments about this team. This is BOWLING GREEN for petes sake, we all have something in commonL: we all love this team, we all love this school. Stop bitching and start supporting the team.

It's because a large portion of this campus/community are buckeyes fans. Plus a good portion of our students are commuters from out of town, and don't want to come back to BG for a game for some reason. Further more it kills me when I see people dressed in only scarlet and grey at our BG games!! C'mon people show some pride in your University! I loved the crowd at the game I thought it was a good turn out for a game during fall break. I also did my best to keep our students cheering for our team throughout the game. Great win this week, it was great to see our Defense finally shaping up too.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:This team *should* be selling out every week -- especially with the reduced capacity. Dude, chill out. Falconboy DOES support BG. I don't agree with all his comments, but he's at all the football games, and pretty much all the basketball games as well supporting the team.momtartin wrote:This is BOWLING GREEN for petes sake, we all have something in commonL: we all love this team, we all love this school. He seems to be a pessimist who mainly discusses what's wrong with our athletic department over what's right with it. There's nothing wrong with that, because there is absolutely a LOT wrong with our athletic department, and our teams as well.
If you don't like what Falconboy generally is talking about, don't read his posts. It's pretty clearly labelled that he started this thread...

There is no need for finger-pointing in this thread.
The community turn out was good. The East side was actually more full than the west side, something I'm not sure I've ever seen before. It was probably better than it was for some games last year and it was CERTAINLY better than the 2003 Kent State game.
We have our marketing department to thank for making sure that happened, through all the promotions they did.
Where we fell short was in students -- but it was fall break. Perfectly understandable.
If we want to point fingers, point at the MAC office for making Bowling Green host a game during break. If it hadn't been break, I think we would have been close to 20,000 Saturday.

I'll agree that, in the past, the student attendance (fall break and non-fall break alike) has been lacking from time to time. But, the students came out in force for the Temple game and, as mentioned time and again, many were out of town this weekend for fall break. Let's wait to see the student attendance at the Western and Akron games before we pass judgment on the student attendance for this year.

I'm not knocking the attendance......
Though could it have been better? Yeah , sure but it was break and the East Stands did seem to be a tad better filled than my side the West. I just happen to think that our crowd noise atmostphere in general at times leaves alot to be desired. Maybe its the fact that we are playing these bottome dwellars and its hard to get really psyched about these games. I just seemed to notice too many people even on our side in the upper levels sitting our the hands after our big plays defensively or scoring. Its like they were just expecting us to do that and our big plays are no big deal. I'm definitly not calling out posters from here , cuz I'm positive everyone here was pumped up and cheering. Honostly we havent' had a exceptionaly loud and roudy crowd since NIU in '02 with GameDay there. That was definilty the loudest we've ever been and it hasn't been the same since then. Just my humble observation. Sorry if this offends you momtartin. :-\

Lets be a little realistic here and get off the students backs. The fact is, every student attending is a worst case scenario (sp?) right now. If you put 20,000 students into a stadium that seats 23,721 i believe then some of our community fan base would not attend because of the lack of seats. Our base crowd must come from the community and it must be around 15,000 game in and game out. Then you attract people from outside the U who have an interest in a certain game, then the opposing teams fans, then our students are icing on the cake. Bacause, as some have pointed out on here, we already have their money....
