I agree, Capital. I think Omar will be successful as a pro either way. However, as much talent that I think that he has, I do think that a lot of the success that he has had comes from our spread offense. You have to admit, that if a quarterback can complete passes running this offense, they are bound to have a 300+ yard day every time out. You have to look at Harris for example. Great Quarterback, great instincts. Those talents gave him the chance to really shine running our offense. As a pro, Harris had a tough time showing coaches and teams his talents because he was restricted to the pocket and to a pro style offense.

Now there is no doubt in my mind that Jacobs is incredibly talented at running our offense. Would he be as great running a pro offense next year or even the year after. I'm not so sure. Being realistic, I think this is the very thing that scouts and coaches in the NFL will be wondering.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not downplaying Jacobs talents and abilities. He's probably the best all-around college Quarterback I've ever watched play. He's got all the goods, I just think that one more year, against some bigger teams will 1) prepare him more for what he will see in the league, and 2) prove to nfl teams that he can run their show as well. Money Money Money, - I won't blame him if he goes... but as Capital said, one more year just may make him even more valuable yet.

This is probably his last year. Think about it. He loses two great receivers. Two RBs, his starting center, a few other guys on the o-line and the defense isn't that great. This was the year for great things to happen. Next year is going to be tough with or without Omar. Though he won't be the number one pick this year he will be a first or second round pick. I personally think he will be gone.

You make good points.

I see the injury as an incentive, however small, to come back. Call it the unfinished business theory. This season isn't turning out the way it should have for him, and he may want a shot to make it right next year.

On the other hand, the injury could be a reminder of the risks of continuing to play the college game.

In August, I was convinced he would go early. Now I'm not so sure.

These things are a crap shoot. Memphis fans were convinced DeAngelo Williams would leave early. He didn't.

I think Omar could benefit from another year here. I mean that sincerely. I think he's still a little tentative on when to tuck it down and run. And there are a couple of other things that are too half-baked in my head to post right now.

I think Turner will have a big game on Saturday, and we will worry a little less about this question thereafter -- which is not to take away from Omar.

Omar is gone in my opinion...1st round draft pick guaranteed and this injury brings to light that one play could end one's season and possibly career. With Sanders/Sharon gone and Partridge and Marques Parks as the top two returning receivers with Brian Thomas as our feature back I would head to the draft and take my millions as opposed to facing next year's schedule with the above mentioned players (no disrespect to those players they will end up having great careers but they will be sophmores!) I think it could depend on how he plays in the Miami and Toledo games.

Despite some gaudy stats Omar has not played like a first round pick for much of this year.

In my mind because of this years performance, Omar is still a raw talent that an NFL team would have to commit some serious time and effort into. The NFL is not known for doing that. I love that he is at BG and I think we are the perfect place for him to showcase his abilities. Right now I think Omar would fall somewhere around 9. 10. or 11 in the eyes of the NFL'ers. Now, not all of these guys will be leaving this year. So move Omar to 6. Unless he bounces back and runs the table, I see him in the 3rd or 4th round.

I want him to stay. We can fill receivers and lineman. If he does come back, move Turner to WR.

Actually that is one-quarter of the schedule that I want us playing. TU and Miami take it up to five games. If you want to be considered one of the big boys, you need to play their schedule. That was what I liked about the Temple schedule - they did not back away from anybody.

Give us Fresno State, and a few ACC/SEC/Big12 schools to fill out that schedule next year.

Did the NCAA extend the season to 16 games? We already have 8 MAC games and Wisc, Boise, Ohio St, and Fla Intl. Isn't that enough? :duh:

As we discussed in this thread, the 2006 schedule looks like it's pretty much sewn up. We'll see how things shake out once Temple is in the MAC fold.

I'd like to drop most of those MAC games and play a schedule that is par to what the non-mid-majors play.

Now far fetched and unlikely, yes. However, I was at a game on Sunday and witnessed an ex-MAC QB return a kick-off for a touchdown! Josh Cribbs. If Turner is that fast and athletic, I would hate to see his talent just sitting on the sidelines.

Is it still insane?
