It's not about losing it's the way we lose and the reaction to it. It isn't something that can be corrected in the next few days. It's an attitude that infects teams and can transition from season to season. It's a combination of leadership failures by coaches and players.
The only person that can correct it is the coach. Brandon dismantled a system that works. It can be adapted to any coaches personality but it is a system of accountablility. It's gone and nothing has replaced it.
The coaches don't demand perfection. They don't demand total commitment. They make excuses for the players and themselves when we lose.
The next thing you will see is our players arguing with each other on the field. That is when the breakdown will be complete.

I'm not nearly close enough to the situation to comment on the relationship between the players and the coaches and the individual players themselves. I do know what I'm seeing on the field. We do not handle adversity well at all, we are physically manhandled at times by teams with equal or less physical talent and our defense is easily the most uninpired unit I've seen since Gary Blackney left town.
You simply cannot view an effort like this in a home game at this juncture of the season as anything but a sign of serious trouble.
The chicken dance?......unfrickingbelievable...

I think there's a difference between being upset over a pretty embarrassing loss and being a "bad fan." Yes, there were a lot of things that happened throughout the game that frustrated just about every Falcon fan who was there. And it is expected that several of those things will be discussed here in the football forum.patrickbg wrote:I cannot believe all of the negativity about this team. They need support. Not a bunch of alumni, students, and fans telling them what they should be doing, or how Coach Brandon should be coaching.
Most of you suck as fans. This is disgusting. I can name only a few on here that remain positive and know it sucks when we lose, but do not declare the world is over.
But you can criticize the team and still support them. Yes, I think that sometimes the negative comments go too far and cross the line from "criticism" to "bashing." But if nobody expresses their dissatisfaction regarding a situation, then how will the problems with that situation change?
This isn't the "positive comments only football forum." I'm upset about the loss. I'm frustrated with our kicker situation. But just because I may express those opinions in this forum doesn't mean that I've thrown in the towel and completely given up on the team.
The game last night was frustrating and embarassing, and Falcon fans have a right to be upset about it, just as they have a right to express their displeasure. And like I said, yes, I acknowledge that there are a few people here whose comments go too far and are uncalled for.
But to say that "most" of the fans on this site "suck" is unfair, extreme and inaccurate.

If even half of these types of accounts are true, I sincerely hope that Brandon is reading this forum and taking notes - for his sake. Fans perceptions of a team when things like this are happening are generally fairly accurate.Flipper wrote:

I was in the front row and when our defense was down Mayberry came up to the other players on defense and tried to get them pumped up but they just stared straight ahead not responding. The defense has got to learn that they are the ones who need to step up. One time the Broncos scored and after the extra point the defense just came over to the bench and just sat down and didn't do a f****** thing. I just felt like our defense didn't have the heart anymore after the Broncos started scoring more points... At least this is what I saw from my viewpoint...

This one particular season is the least of my worries. It is where the long-term future of the program seems to be headed after we appeared to be positioning ourselves as a top-25 program.Well hell, let's just call the season a bust.
From 1991-1994, we were riding high, then 1995 rolled around and we were shocked by the results. The downfall lasted through 2000.
This feels like 1995 all over again.

I can name other things more disgusting. This statement, for instance........patrickbg wrote:Most of you suck as fans. This is disgusting.
I just see a bunch of popping off after a loss. Nothing more. I see it as a healthy outlet. It's better than overturning port-o-johns, burning cars and what-not.
Folks here are disappointed for themselves, their school, and the lads who do give a crap they got dominated by a green team. I, for one, am GLAD people are disappointed.
But that disappointment doesn't mean they suck as fans. If anything, it PROVES they're fans and good ones to boot. Think about that.

If Brandon is attempting to learn anything from an online forum, he either shouldn't have been hired in the first place, or fired immediately.Bleeding Orange wrote:If even half of these types of accounts are true, I sincerely hope that Brandon is reading this forum and taking notes - for his sake. K, and it's been nearly 24 since then. I think it's time for all of us to just move on. What is bitching about it going to accomplish? No one here has the power to do anything drastic for this team.

In the original post to this thread, it was stated the 2 players were noticed doing the chicken dance between the 3rd and 4th quarters on the sidelines.kdog27 wrote:I missed this, what are you referring to?Flipper wrote: The chicken dance?......unfrickingbelievable...
In their defense, perhaps they were just trying to stay active and warm. Once the sun went down and we had no chance of getting back into it, it got really cold at the Doyt.
In reference to the posts about a potential decline in the program similar to the late 90's, I can see it. I thought we would win the MAC this year (I still think we can) and then head for a couple rocky years. It's a combination of teams like the directionals and OU getting better and our young guys not showing me much when they get a chance to play. I'll worry about next year after this season. Until then, I really hope we can right the ship and win the MAC.
things I know
we are in first place
coach brandon has won 2 bowl games in 2 years
falcon fans should stay positive and support the coach and players!
we all have off days..support the coach and team when they really need it..

Agreed wholeheartedly. I guess in this instance I was referring to the fact that Brandon may not have been aware that these things were taking place during the game, what with coaching the action on field and all. It seems clear from the accounts peppered throughout these boards, though, that there are many laps that need to be run, players that need to be chewed out, and perhaps even a few scholarships that need to be threatened.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:If Brandon is attempting to learn anything from an online forum, he either shouldn't have been hired in the first place, or fired immediately.Bleeding Orange wrote:If even half of these types of accounts are true, I sincerely hope that Brandon is reading this forum and taking notes - for his sake. I hope something makes Brandon aware of this crap, and I suppose these forums are just as good of a medium as any.
