I dont think the team is dead, and needs to be striped and rebuilt. i think they are in a deep, deep sleep.
Yesterday there was nothing that went our way. Each time it seemed we would capture the momemtum, it was dashed away. Yes at times by players who were screwing up, other times by refs and reviews that seemed to get it wrong twice.

I dont know if the players can win every game we have left, as it seems when Omar and O do get points on the board the D deciedes they can coast or stop playing. Then when the D does stand up, we can not get the O to fire. By my count yesterday we left 24 points on the field, that if Omar had been playing, I believe we would have gotten and due to AT's inexperience we did not get, but will when his day is realy upon us.
Are these coaching issue, you bet, cause we have seen, and know our guys have game on both sides of the ball...special teams excluded...the coordination of the D and O playing at the same time, every game is a coaching issue, a captian leadership issue. Which leads me to this conclusion we have no leadership, not from coaches, and not from players and that this disconect is the root fo the problem.

Brandon has been living off Blackney's and Meyer's talent and the cupboard is about empty. He has proven to be a poor recruiter

I've put a lot of thought into this over the past eight days.

I don't think this is a black and white issue. I see a bunch of shades of grey. (I can't help it; I'm a liberal.)

I'm not sure anything has aggravated fans more than the kicking game.

I don't think this can be written off to recruiting. Nate Fry came in as a scholarship player. Brandon went out and found Timchenko and gave him a scholarship. Hell, there have been eras here at Bowling Green where we just looked for a kid to walk on and prove himself before he was awarded a scholarship.

So Brandon has made an effort here. Kicking is a strange part of the game, mental, like golf. I'm not sure Brandon ought to be blamed because his kickers have melted down. He has made what seems to be a reasonable effort.

Look at the defensive line. We lost two starters from last season. That's HUGE -- and I don't see how Brandon can be blamed for those losses.

Moreover, Devon Parks is one of the most talented players on this team. He came in under Brandon, who, rightly, decided to take off his redshirt in 2003. And Brandon clearly made a big effort to replenish the cupboard at DL last off season.

On the other hand, our linebacker corps really frustrates me. This may be the weakest group of linebackers we've had since the Moe Ankney era, if not before. God bless Teddy Piepkow, but I don't remember his name getting called once last night.

Linebackers -- I have a tendency to lay blame for this on Brandon's recruiting. Maybe there is a hidden story to this, or maybe they are doing things that don't show up on the scoring sheet or on the PA system. But I have my doubts.

Bottom line: I think it is still an open question whether Brandon's recruiting has been up to the standard it needs to be.

Next year will really tell the story.

We will need to rebuild the receiving corps and the offensive backfield and we will have significant scattered losses throughout the rest of the team.

I thought Piepkow played pretty well. I think he was in on at least two tackles for loss, and he shared a sack with Thaler that he largely created. It was Johnson whose name wasn't called.
