This mostly refers to hockey, but I suppose it pertaions to all sports:

Thanks for the catch, AAF. Trust me, as an historian, I am more bothered by that than anyone. I hate poor grammar.always a falcon wrote:Honey- I know you are upset, with the glass in your hand and all, but that is no excuse for improper use of contractions......possessive is ITS coaches not *It's* contraction for it is!Bleeding Orange wrote:Yeah, I'm getting sick of this too. Greetings from Georgia. Those in the basketball chat room today know I was pissed off during the game because of some posts that were going on between me and another so-called Falcon fan. I had a wedding to attend and just got back to the hotel and all afternoon I have been thinking and I just wanted to tell everyone that I will not be coming back to this board. I may check in from time to time, but certain people cannot respect the direction our programs are heading, or do not wish to support certain programs and I take that personally. I have been attending Falcon sports so over 25 years. I been a resident of BG all my life, a season ticket holder for all major sports, gone to the bowl games, missed 7 games in 6 years, went to the NCAA Hockey Championship, etc, and been a Falcon Club member for 10 years, donating over $40,000 but it makes me sick to my stomach on how certain ‘so-called’ fans turn on our programs and have to talk bad about them. Due to this, I decided that I am going to take a few months away from this site. Grant, you can go ahead and delete my account if you must. I really appreciated getting to know each and everyone of you and talking amongst you, even though I have not met anyone personally. I will always be a Falcon Club member and support our athletic teams, but coming to this site lately and hearing certain people put down our program has made me sick. I wish the best to each and everyone of you and maybe when the time is right I will come back to this site to express my opinions and read what Falcon Fans have to say, but for the moment I think it is best that I leave this site before I say some remarks that I may one day regret
Yours Truly,

Ok, now that I vented I am going to go back and enjoy the wedding reception
Threads like this are par for the course in Florida when talking high school football. There is a thread going on now on one of the message boards about an incident at Merritt Island High School that will probably (and rightly so in my opinion) cost the head football coach and an assistant their jobs. TONS of backroom talk, accusations of lying, coersion, backpeddling.... etc over an incident that happened in the final week of the season at practice. Several years ago the same kind of issues revolved around the baseball program at MI. The entire staff was fired. Remember that even though we live in Merritt Island Sean attended Cocoa High School. This kind of stuff was one of the reasons.Flipper wrote:I think "Big Bird" Ellis and the rest of the Merritt Island crew are reading this and thinking "what kind of nutcase college is our Bird going to"
72....don't let the jerks here bother you. There aren't many of them and it's more fun to stay around to call them jerks
Don't worry, Sean gets more anxious every day to get up to BG. Two days to LOI day! Is anyone planning to attend the recruit show at the student union? <g>

I believe that some big developments will occur Feb. 1 since that is a deadline that has been given.

1. Anyone who complains aboutour threads needs to take a look at that site from time to time.
2. I still don't know what happened.

Readers digest version. Merritt Island (MI) lost any hopes of playoffs after week 9 loss to Rockledge. MI had been practicing both before and after school. (I don't know if it was legal or what they were doing) The Monday after the loss one of the MI running backs did not come to the morning practice. That afternoon the offensive coordinator thought it would be a good idea to instruct the defense to really hit this player, including telling the defense what plays were being run. When the players didnt hit him hard enough, he screamed at them about it. The Head coach (and several others) knew what was going on. Players didn't like it, some coaches didnt like it. So they voiced their complaints. Coaches were fired by the HC, players were threatened about future playing time or lack of recruiting support from the HC/OC. Problem escalated to the AD/Principle with players going en mass in to their office. Lack of response by the AC/Principle caused parents to get involved. Then escalated with parents retaining attorney and sending certified letter to school, school board, television and newspaper. Not sure exactly what was in letter but it is believed that lawsuit will follow if coaches remain. School board has been investigating since then (early Jan) and we believe that Feb 1 is a deadline. So we will see soon.
Just glad that Sean did not go to MI four years ago!!

What ever happened to running laps/sprints and doing pushups (ala "Coach Carter") when you miss a practice? Having your teammates beat on you just doesn't seem right to me, and I am a disciplanarian.
