Re: Dino Babers
Baylor: What if Art Briles lands the Texas job? Does Baylor reach out to former assistant Dino Babers, who just recently accepted the head coaching job at Bowling Green? What Baylor officials reach out the Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris? What about staying in-house with Philip Montgomery? These are many reasons why I encourage you to stay tuned to the Coaching Search Ticker.

Re: Dino Babers
I've actually been wondering this same thing. ESPN is reporting that if briles is offered the job (and he's set to interview), he'll accept. There's a chance Baylor will snatch up babers. If that happens, do they pay us his buyout? If so, it's not a terrible thing...we made money for doing nothing really, and could put it toward the next coach. And if so, who's next on the list? I'm guessing Towson coach Rob Ambrose.
Re: Dino Babers
I have my sincere doubts that
1. Texas hires Briles. I think they're going to hire Mora.
2. If there were an opening, Baylor would be classless enough to hire a guy who just started up at a new position.
I saw that post on coachingsearch and laughed.

This guy is notorious for posting the most provocative "information" possible to generate hit counts and page views for his site. I wouldn't put any stock into it whatsoever. Baylor wouldn't hire a coach directly from the OVC to the Big 12 and there's two existing coordinators on staff (Montgomery and Randy Clements) who've been running the offense far longer anyway.Globetrotter wrote:These are many reasons why I encourage you to stay tuned to the Coaching Search Ticker.

His brothers's site (footballscoop.com) allows you to click on one tab to scroll through all the news stories and read them at once. Coachingsearch.com makes people click on the stories individually to drum up the hit counts.

Exactly an 11-2 power conference team is not going to hire an FCS coach.

1/3/2014: "I have no desire to pursue other coaching positions," Baylor coach Art Briles said. "As I've said many times, I am both humbled and honored to be the head coach at Baylor University, and believe we have something special going here. I look forward to leading the Bears onto the field next fall at McLane Stadium and defending our Big 12 championship that our players and coaches worked so hard to win this season.
"There is tremendous excitement for our program's future, and I look forward to many more great seasons. There is tremendous commitment from our University leadership, athletic administration, coaches and student-athletes - it truly is a great time to be a Baylor Bear."
I guess that's that.

My wife told me I could take the job so I've already signed the contract and I'm on the next plane out of here for the press conference announcing my hiring.

Re: Dino Babers
They hired Tressel because nobody decent wanted the job and Tressel had 15 years as a HC. I guarantee you that if Briles leaves, you won't have a problem finding guys with better resumes than Dino Babers...and I don't mean that as a criticism of Babers.

No one decent would want the OSU job, my butt. That job has been one of the most coveted in college football.Flipper wrote:They hired Tressel because nobody decent wanted the job and Tressel had 15 years as a HC. Re: Dino Babers
They were picking between Glen Mason and Tressel....IIRC, Ty Willingham, Jon Gruden and Walt Harris all told them "no". In 2001, it wasn't looked at as being a very attractive job for a number of reasons.daspollak wrote:No one decent would want the OSU job, my butt.
