Props to the team! Hard fought win and Knapke's last TD was a gorgeous throw! Team hung in there. Very nice way to end a somewhat disappointing season!

BG wins a bowl and the lions make the play offs (thanks to philly) for the first time since 2011....it's a good day!!!

Good to get a win, Babers beats a P5 school and wins a bowl in his first year despite a lot of adversity and very inconsistent play. I'll be eager to see what this team can do with another ten months to get this system down.

Ton of good things happened on the field tonight. Nice win to build on. If this team can come back next year with fewer penalties and a more consistent offense look for a great season.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.

They looked like they wanted to play tonight. I'll take the win any day of the year. GO BG

Incredible finish! So happy for the entire team, program and our school. This season didn't go as planned or hoped at times but we beat a Power Five team, won the MAC East and won a bowl game! Great to end the year with a bowl win and go into the offseason on a winning note!
GO BG!!!

I agree. Also getting Matt back at QB. The transfer from Baylor at WR as well

Got to admit, I was thinking Potato Bowl all over again. Glad we finally saw one go our way. ..and James Knapke played his a.. Off. Looked poised thruout the game even after USA scored. To think we had TWO offensive starters thrown out of game and still win! I'll take it!

I said it last page but it bears repeating. Knapke played an excellent game, maybe his best so far. It is great seeing him finish the season on a high note.

He'll certainly have a leg up for the backup job next year after that performance.

I'll never complain when we get a win. No matter how it happened. God knows we've been on the other end of too many of those. Nice to send seniors out with a win.

But truth be told, Falcons were not a very good team this year. We were however, the best in a very weak MAC east division. We couldn't beat anyone in the west. We had no business being in that MAC Championship Game.

Big expectations coming into the season based on last year's success, core of returning players and optimism around new coach. Would we have fared any different if Clawson was still here this year? Tough to say, but my guess would be yes. Continuity would have been a good thing coming back this year for this team in my opinion.

Not sure what to think of Babers. On one hand, he admittedly is trying to install a new system on both sides of the ball. It will take some time. He lost his trigger man and MVP the first game of the season and had to go with a guy at QB that had never played. Team battled through other numerous injuries of players on both offense and defense. Yet, he was able to hold it together enough to win the MAC east title and win a bowl game. Not bad considering.

On the other hand, saw a lot of things that concern me. Some poor in-game decisions, defensive scheme that caused us to take a step backwards, offense that didn't look like it could or wanted to adapt to the talent we have, some general discipline lapses, off-the-field issues.

I am hoping this was a learning year for everyone, coaches included. I am certainly not giving up on Dino but I need to see some improvement next year, especially on the offense...no matter who's playing quarterback. Even though the defense struggled mightily this year, we lose some 7 players on that side of the ball. Next year we could be even worse on defense with all the new guys. If you are a glass half empty type of guy, maybe its good we are bringing in new starters on defense. Could they be any worse than what we saw against WKU, UMass, Wisconsin and NIU?

But tonight I am going to enjoy our win against what's probably the worst bowl team playing this postseason, even if it took a Hail Mary miracle to pull it out. As I said before these are too hard to come by not to enjoy it.

Lets hit the recruiting trail, get Matt's hip healed and see you in 15 weeks for Spring Practice!

I hadn't seen us win in person in way too long... we had a heck of a good time. Been on the wrong side of way too many games so this one felt real good.

I thought it was pretty good. Turnout was better than I expected considering we had virtually no fans there. South Alabama fans were definitely excited to be there. We might have been the only BG fans behind the USA bench so I heard of a lot of trash talking all game and they sure didn't like us or our team much. One guy behind me couldn't stop call us Kentucky ridge runner hillbillies. Lived here since 2009 and still found it funny that Alabama natives were making fun of another state. It was nice to break the hearts of another fan base for once.

Props to Knapke. I didn't think he was capable of a game like that after the last month of the season. Also made some decent runs to get first downs and make third downs more manageable.

Will Moore's ejection carry over to the first half of the Tennessee game?
